People I don't think the real impact of this device will be in the console sector. Imagine hooking this thing up to a standard windows 7 equipped PC and getting multi-touch, windows management without buying a multi-thousand dollar monitor. Forget Nintendo and the console wars, this thing will be attacking high end hardware makers the world over. LG and Samsung have more to fear than SCE or Nintendo. Instead of buying a hundred thousand dollar Wall monitor CNN could purchase this thing and use a projector for all their cool little news stories. This thing could compete with all other next gen User Interfaces and video games will probably only be a frickin' distraction. This might be the new mouse.

The concept like others have said is cool. I can't see how it will be implemented though that it would overtake the Wiimote, or Wiimote+. It isn't too pratical in games such as FPS, or Action games were this level of 1:1 motion cannot be used. Also like the Wiimote it could look good on paper, but come out with flaws depending on how well a developer utilizes it. I am going to wait and see how this plays out, but I doubt it will have a dramatic effect that Microsoft is probably looking for.

Microsoft's new and original way to play videogames is an updated version of the eyetoy? If you want motions controls get the Wii it's better than the Natal. How is the this different from the Wii remotes? This thing isn't awesome and worthwhile. People thought the Eyetoy was going to be awesome but it wasn't.

By the way, this camera stuff can be used for more than gaming.
For example TV's could get it implemented.
And with the voice recognition, you can just talk to your console, tv etc. and make some hand gestures if needed.

I remember thinking the same thing back in the mid 90s when we got a Sound Blaster 16 card which had a voice recognition program you could use to control Windows.

It will be interesting to see how successful this thing can be. If people thought they look dumb playing wii sports, they are going to look a whole new level of ridiculous playing this thing. I think the cost of this thing, which if it is as good as they made it look, will be very high. The other thing here, is how many of these things are going to break after getting them into people's homes? They still have not fixed the Red Ring, so now what, the infrared ring of death?
