Forums - Microsoft - Facial & Voice Recognition 360 ( Project NATAL )

I'm glad that they didn't just copy the Wii Motion +. Actually, I'm really surprised and excited about NATAL. Microsoft joined Nintendo and will sure see many new costumer because of it (especially casual gamers).

I want to know what people are thinking who have always been against motion controlling!

I find NATAL far more impressive than Wii Remote.

The Milo demonstration was insane. Everyone guessed the motion sensing, I don't think anyone guessed the voice and face recognition, that brings it to a whole other level.

The only thing was the noticeable lag between when you move and when the on screen character reacts so it's not going to replace a controller for something like shooters, but it DOES open up a whole new world of games to explore that have never been done.

I really hope for Sony's sake they don't announce some half-assed motion controller at tomorrow's conference or they're gonna look pretty silly compared to this.

^^The dude said it can track multiple players.

They are working on 2 player recognition but theyre not there yet. It is single player untill 2 player is actually achievable.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

i do question the accuracy of small body movements, just like the need for WM+, bcoz it didn't look very subtle.

Price, who knows but its only one player which means Wii still has a good advantage.

They said it has the ability to capture multiple targets and is fully capable of multiplayer.

And as to that article, I highly doubt it is going to cost $200.  That would be ridiculously stupid.

you are just too excited right now....

think more logically, could someone play GTA IV, SSBB, Mario Galaxy, and all that with this project!?

it's main purpose is sports and it's a direct attack to Nintendo's Wii Sports and WM+

it is impressive at the begin but, it's virtual sports

what would REALLY amaze me would be a realistic shooter using this thing...

i'm really excited by the way, but i would no fucking way exchange the Wii for an Xbox360 with that thing

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

how is it going to measure exactly where your pointing? The luxury of planning 5yrs ahead gives Nintendo the ir pointer, a feature the 360 and its shooters needs.

To me it seems like Standard MoCap tech crammed in to a small device. Do not expect the device to be cheap, and the development costs for developers using this will be even higher than they are now.

I think its great tech, but not particularly well suited for games, unless they release some perifereals (kinda like a wireless nunchuck for wii, otherwise voluntary forward movement is impossible)

I really don't see this capturing any massive market share. The people who will be most psyched about this are people who already own a 360. People who jumped on the motion bandwagon won't see enough of a difference to justify a minimum of 400 bucks more.

Should be cool to see what they can do with it though...
