Forums - Microsoft - Know anyone buying a 360...because of Halo?

Well, me... I bought it on September 1 because Circuit City had a sale that gave me a second wireless controller for free (and a copy of Table Tennis that I sold to GameStop for a whopping $5.50...). Then I hit GameStop and bought a collection of cheap games like PGR3, NCAA07, and Call of Duty 2. I've been playing those while waiting for Halo 3. Then I ordered Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3.


I made my decision because I really wanted to play Halo 3 & Gears of War, two titles that weren't available on PS3. The only game I really wanted on PS3 that wasn't also on 360 was Grand Turismo. I was very concerned about the RROD problem, but the 3 year warranty resolved any concern there. Just to be safe, I did pay a little more for the warranty so that I could return this if it broke. 

Mine is a newer premium with HDMI.

On a little spending spree I also picked up Forza 2 and Gears of War. I have plenty to play now

Bioshock and a hockey game will have to wait until I have played all the stuff I just got.

Mythrengade, if you're a racing sim fan, you'll absolutely love Forza. It beats the hell out of any of the GT games to date though I'm hoping GT5 presents some new options. In any case, enjoy the customizing options and be sure to PM me in XBL (tag: rocketpig76). I have a boatload of stuff I can give you.

saying that though, i know 2 people buying a PS3 cos of Warwark. they came over, played it for a while and decided Halo could wait.

update on my above post. i feel i have a little egg on my face...

of those 2 mates who were going to buy PS3s: one decided he can't afford it. there are other commitments he needs to make and the other decided last minute to buy a 360.

yeah, you guessed it, he got the hype about Halo 3 and the price difference meant he couldn't really afford the PS3 and the 360 gave much better value in his opinion. Even though he has a good job as a business consultant he has a girlfriend, a car and rent to pay for, he just couldn't justify the expenditure. He also doesn't have an HD TV so couldn't see the point in a PS3 when he couldn't fully appreciate the graphics quality.

there's some ammo for the 360 fan boys.

And for the PS3 fanboys out there: 

Mate number 2 has been so unimpressed with Halo 3 and the 360 he's now taking it back to the shop. apparently after playing the PS3 so much, the 360 doesn't stand up. the graphics, online play and 'fun factor' on Warhawk are far better in his opinion than Halo 3, and the 360 just feels a little 'shoddy'. he's also well pissed off that he has to pay for xbox live - he thought it was free like PSN. he likes online games.

he's hoping for either a price drop or a cheaper PS3, and some more games, then he might get one. 40Gb anyone?
