Forums - Microsoft - Know anyone buying a 360...because of Halo?

I know one who bought one 2 weeks ago

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

My Buddy broke down and bought his for halo 3 a month or so ago. Another is on the fence I hope this makes him fall over to the evil side. I want more real life people on xboxlive.

Nothing like fragging your real life buddies on XBL. Oh, if you frag your boss...its even better.

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

yeah, i know 12 for sures, they all have halo 3 preordered, half have already bought their x360, others will be getting it in the mail soon.

I can wait for a price cut and a failure rating that I find acceptable. Which is quite low. Plus a system that does not eat disks. But I work with 7 women aged 29+, a 35 year old gay guy, and an annoying 20 year old. Where I work, I'm the only one who's interested.

Now, since I work at a University, if I cared to listen, I'd probably find many more students.

At least following a comedians own jokes makes his death easier.

I was at gamestop at the 12:01 launch. Heard a couple people who were buying the game and didn't even own a system yet. Saw about 4-5 360's leave the store in the 1hr and a half I was there. I was mainly walking around talking to people so not sure if any other consoles were sold during the party.

The whole event was pretty crazy. The local strip mall had other stores open late to to accommodate all the people waiting around for halo. Gamestop also hosted a halo 2 tournament and guitar hero tournament which was pretty fun to watch. One of my friends working the store said there was around 600 preorders. I'd say there were easily that many people at the launch party, most everybody brought friends and the hype/anticipation seemed genuine. One thing that did make me lol was gamestop playing Red vs Blue on the PS3 displays throughout the night. All in all a great time. Glad I'm going into work late tomorrow :D

Cousin is planning on picking up one this week for Halo it will definitely show in hardware sales that much is certain. I'm just curious now how much and for how long will the Halo bump will show up. I do think a lot of Halo fans already do own a 360 but there does seem to be a large amount too who do not so it will be interesting to watch for sure.

Now Playing : Links Crossbow Training(Wii), Super Mario Galaxy(Wii) FE: Path of Radiance(GC)

Nope, but quite a few 360 owners, some of which didn't even like the first two Halos, are picking up the game itself

i know one guy, he was supposed to be buying carpets for his new flat, but instead bought an Elite. his housemate will be well chuffed. actually he really will.

saying that though, i know 2 people buying a PS3 cos of Warwark. they came over, played it for a while and decided Halo could wait.

Everyone I know that bought a 360 did so because of Halo, but one did in the last couple of weeks. I'm the only 360 owner I know that didn't get a 360 because of Halo.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I know roughly 3 people who have bought or are buying an Xbox 360 this week for Halo 3.
