I guess you missed all the talk with the Laguna instructor about the diferences in car behaviour while Clarkson was playing GT4 there in Laguna Seca and just ran with the first excuse =/

Anyways I understand you, if I had been waiting for so many years I'd be expecting the second coming and believing it too.

Care to point out what I missed?

BTW, GT4 is an aged game and even GT fans admitted that it's not as realistic as it should.

I didn't realise we are back at GT4 while I was talking about GT5P for the manufacture data.

They always say Forza will be the best racer, and then it comes out, and Gran Turismo comes out, and GT is always the best racer. For 4 releases now GT has been the new definitive best racer (with just one small slip, they took used cars out after going to PS2). After 4 super awesome GT games and 2 pretty good Forza games what in the world makes everyone think somehow this time will be different?

Also when its live and running we can talk about how much better the graphics are. I can actually play GT5P and be amazed in real time. Comparing GT5P to Forza 2, Forza 2 looks like nothing special. When they prove they can have PS3 quality graphics without the heavy stutter (in LIVE game play) then I'll be a believer, until then though, trailers are trailers and demos are demos, they are not finished games.

I second this,

It looks awesome but Im pretty sure GT5 Will > it.

Indeed, but games like Enthusia released on the same period for the same platform had a better simulation of how a car behaves.

That tells you something: PD are a talented bunch, if they wanted to do a properly realistic simulation they'd just do it. But that's not what they are interested in, because it's a known fact that the more realistic simulators don't sell as well.

Everyone's fine about racing games picking their spot in the balance between simulation and arcade, except GT.

Below is the quote of someone pointing out more reasons for his faster in-game lap time.

He didn't even use the right car. In the game, he used a Type R, while in RL, a standard NSX. In the menus, you'll see he picked the standard car, but if you pay attention to it in the lap, you can clearly see the Type R spoiler. He also pointed out that he is not a race car driver, and he doesn't have their bravery that would allow him to go faster. Jeremy also used a DS2; if he had used the official wheel, the force feedback - not to mention the improved steering and throttle/brake control - would have given him a much more realistic experience. He also used the S2 tires in game which provided more grid than the RL NSX tires he drove.

So you are saying Jeremy Clarkson, a guy that gets $ from Sony to promote Gran Turismo lied and faked a video just to make GT look bad?

Who needs enemies with friends like these!

That's assuming that quote of which by the way you have provided no source is trustable. Big assumption there.

Where did you see Sony paid him for it?

All I see is that it was an episode of Top Gear.

The quote wasn't an assumption. It was the observation of the video.

Just watch the video. He compared the game to the RL with the DS2. (what a joke)

He didn't drive as aggressive as he was in game for obvious reasons.

Learn to read. The assumption is that the quote is trustable, not about how the source got to those conclusions. Speaking of which, we still haven't seen the source, supposing there's any.

Clarkson has been promoting GT, Top Gear episodes were announced to be available through GT5, their test lap is on the game... Clarkson's Top Gear and Sony are in cahoots.

Actually there's a third try where he goes balls off and just gets a mere 1.57 or something like that... because RL cars behave very differently from GT cars - something everyone knows but GT fanboys. You know, marketing dollars at work.

Anyways this is getting boring - you can go preach about the second coming for the third? fourth? year, I'll go play a next-gen flagship racing sim (Forza 2) in anticipation of Forza 3 coming in october.

What do the source has to do with the observation of the video???

PD and Top Gear partnered up since GT5P. He had nothing to do with PD at the time of the video. (Prove me wrong.)

Ok and this is the physics claim without any support again.
If you can explain me how and why GT5P cars behave different than RL cars, please do so in detail.

Do you have any racing or track experiences to support your claim?
If not, how do you know they behave differently?

It has tire deformation
