GTA don't belong to Sony, I thought?
It was R* that decided where the game goes and it will go to where the large userbase are.

This would be an extremely expensive contract for Sony, so no, I don't think so.

The discussion here is about the contract Sony had last get that kept the GTA series as a timed exclusive and what were the cicumstances behind that contract fizzling out.

Read through the thread as we have had an in depth discussion on the subject which included a major player in the Sony camp being fired for failing to lock up such exclusives in a timely manor.

That was long ago when Sony dominated the console market. Such a contract would be much more expensive now, which was my point.

PS: BTW did that contract really exist? I scanned through the thread and didn't find confirmation.

Need I remind you that GTA 3 and all it's iterations sold spectacularly on PS2? Even early into PS2's lifecycle before it was the absolute king of the hill.

Saying that GTA was always timed exclusive for PS2 simply because of PS2's userbase is an oversimplification, To me it's the other way around PS2's userbase was a result of GTA timed exclusives.

I want Sony to announce at E3 MGS5, GTA5 and FFVII remake are PS3 exclusive. If this happen it would be the happiest day for all PS3 owner.
