Blah the graphics probably won't look nearly that good. That can't be in game, imo.

But seriously, nobody plays these games for graphics. I mean, do you think the people who still play the original are playing it because of the totally bitching 1998-based graphics engine?

NS has always been about skill, competition and coordination. If it looks nice, that's fine, but that's hardly the point.
