Forums - Microsoft - I'm thinking of giving up on 360 entirely

Buy a PS3, with nearly all games being multiplatform, or exclusive for PS3. You get free online, and you wont have to worry about getting issues with it. I was in the same place as you in the summer of 2007, so trust me, go with PS3

***Update***

decision is made. pay day i take my 360 (while its working) and my games to EB, see the trade value and put that on ps3 with Killzone 2

yes i will reget 360 later on cheap as hell for some games traded in, so i can play alan wake and mass effect 2

but i will NEVER be renewing my xbox live as theres no point at all, Modern Warfare 2 for me will be ps3.

it has NOTHING to do with ms vs sony, i just want to have fun and not pay for live while my system is broken, and not wonder when it'll break anymore.

im also going to wait 1 year to buy new xbox, to see if any issues arrise, unless they make a shadowrun rpg.

end.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

the reason i will always buy new. you have a used one dude you likely have the not so great chipset version you would have been best off with new it would of had the most current chipset and you would have brand new warranties as well. I am on my 4th one but 2 of mine were disc drive issues not rrod that was only my 1st one. my 3rd system was getting ready to crapout but i sold it to gamestop along with a few game and got a new arcade unit since i wanted one with hdmi and all that. did you at least check to see what year it was manufactured and see if it had been registered before because that might help cover you under warranty.

i love your post, it really helps me decide to go ps3your like 'dude dont buy used'.  my used lasted longer maybe than the new one, also you then go on about how youre on your 4th one!

360 has been out for 3 years, you average a new console less than every year!

regardless of the issue disc drive, whatever, 4 systems in 3 years is nuts.

honestly the last time i got a 360, i shoulda just got ps3 . . .

no more fanboy for me.  i just want to enjoy my systems again.

Mass effect 2 will go on PC too.
and there are big rumors of going the ps3 also.

Ive got a RRoD unit collecting dust from like Nov/Dec. Havent done anything with it yet besides trading in all my games. Im not one of those who go through 3 RRoDs before switching. I hate, absolutly hate, poor products that breaks down after you've paid a lot of money for it. And i cant really understand why one would be happy with his/her choice after 4 RRoD units under less than 4 years. Thats just madness!

Sorry dude...bummer...with 22173 APs, you're definitely NOT the kinda customer M$ needs to be losing...maybe you should write a detail letter to them explaining what you're feeling...you never know...they might respond positively. I certianly give more credence to a compliant from somebody with your background, over some of the drivel I see on these boards.

I've gotta say out of the many whines over the years about 360, you're one of the few that I clearly don't have in that column.  M$ really flubbed with the RROD, and these are some of the fruits of that flub...sorry to see you leave 360 camp, even if it's only temporary.  I'd still recommend you contact M$ about it tho...you never know what they might do to keep you as a customer.

I'm a huge 360 booster as anyone who knows me is aware . . . but i'm at the end of my rope.

Now my second 360 is red ring of death.

How many do I have to go through?  It's a complete joke to be honest.

I have no warrenty on this one, so I looked online for a fix, and there is a good one.  They note tho that if you fix your 360 yourself, they may ban you from xbox live.  What is that bullshit?  Honestly what is that?  I'm so sick of xbox live rules and dogma for a service I have already paid for 13 months of.

So either I buy a new one, which can break anytime.  Call microsoft and pay them to do what i can do myself.  Or do it myself and risk being banned from xbox live.  Fun decisions to try to make 3 days from my birthday.

I'm not a ps3 lover by any stretch.  But if I have one, I can buy modern warfare 2 when it hits, and play online for free (my live subscription is running out, so I will need another one at the same cost as MW2).

I'm thinking this is it fellas, I culd trade my 360 games and system to some store for a ps3 with kz2 probobly.  And all these worries go away.

Yeah all my friends are on xbox live .. . but I am just sick to death of dropping money on top of money into this thing.

It's a shame really as I love 360 honestly.  But the differences in library are so slight.  I just want the BS to end.

Anyone got any advice for me on what I can do to either fix this or what?

I'm on my 5th console... hmmm... luckly I got a brand new one with the 65nm chipset.  The giving up on something part is always there when you get the RRoD, but you'll feel better when you get your system back.
