Xbox Live piss#s all over PSN from a great height, I use both and can say that sooooo easily,
You know what they say, you get what you pay for......
Xbox Live ---> Steam ---> PSN ---> Wii Online

So becuase Sony's tactic against XBL was to make PSN free, XBL is a scam all of a sudden?......XBL is older than Sony's online efforts...Nothing has changed as far as pricing. XBL is way more sucsesful than PSn plain and simply becuase on average people are willing to pay for it....You think PSN is free...But really it's not to everyone... And What's up with taxing DLC's? |
No, it's been a scam from the start. People have been gaming online for free since the early 90s, and out of all the services out there, Microsoft is the only firm to charge for it. Hell - they don't even charge for Games For Windows Live anymore (they tried to, but they lost to the markets), the only reason that they get away with it with the Xbox is because Live is the only online service on the 360.
I don't think microsoft will lose any sleep over a select few customers not wanting to pay for a quality service like XBL.

On consoles?...I don't think so......Sega sure as hell tried but not enough people cared to buy a DC becuase all they wanted was a PS2...Out comes the Xbox and Makes Online console Gaming the standard and now you want to say it is a Scam becuase Sony is trying to Emulate the Xbox Brand?
As to the Windows Live thing..I thought that after that Xbox Live would be affected...Instead it has grown...

That was the dumbest Analogy.....CaptDS9E's makes sense...Pyramid Head.....can have voice chat on PSN the way you do on live? |
Three things:
- Voice chat isn't for everyone. It certainly isn't for me, I can't stand using party chat on Live - hell, I can't even stand using the phone, I find it uncomfortable.
- Party/Private chat probably will come to the PSN in the future, it's more a question of "when" rather than "if".
- You're paying $30/$40/$50 (whatever the hell the sub fee is) a year for voice chat? After all, there are two big differences between the PSN and Live. 1 - Live has in-game, cross-game voice chat and the PSN doesn't. 2 - Live requires a subscription, PSN doesn't. If Silver offered everything that the PSN offered, and Gold offered everything that the PSN didn't (so, party chat) how many people would be willing to pay the subscription for Gold, then?

And we are debating if the newest report of 20 million users includes Silver Members

I hate to break it to ya, but consoles are PCs. It doesn't cost Microsoft any more money to run a "console" service over a "PC" service.

Thanks for that, yeah, stating how many people are currently paying for the service proves or disproves my point, how? My point was how many people would be willing to pay for Gold if Silver already offered online play (so Silver was equivalent to PSN).
