Tales is a is basically the same themes( racism, Man who wants to save the world by doing something bad to it, meaning of life, I want to be God) and the same cookie cutter characters( Flirt, comedian, the brains, innocent girl who does nothing evil, coolguy/badass ext) over and over and over again. Though FF has fallen from grace it still manages to deeper on all levels than Tales will ever be.

While I think the FFXIII will great...It looks like RoF will out do its Fire arms Premise...I'm waiting for SE to make and FF game set in the Mideaval time frame but be as epic as FFVI or Tactics! And even those two had Modern tech implemented into it...Besides FFVII (which was pretty epic but not as Bold as VI or Tactics) FF games have been lackluster recently..FFX was a great example how class espefic FF games can awesome (Even though only the three girls had class spefication.Well two...the other one was sorta a mix )

Well, I am currently 33 hours in Tales of the Abyss and it's the only Tales of game I've played. It is solid, I am enjoying it, it's pretty well done and has better production values than most non-FF jRPGs out there.

But nothing about it strikes me as "Wow! that's just amazing!" and yet I always get these impressions whenever I am playing a mainline FF game, be it because of the graphics, music, cutscenes or anything else.

Making posts that I was going to make before I have the opportunity makes you one of my nemeses.

I've only played all the way through Symphonia, but I would say that every single FF game I've played has been better.

Though Tales does somewhat follow that formula the same can be said about pretty much all JRPGs.

Final Fantasy is in my opinion the superior series.

Tales series b/c of Vesperia. Without that game, FF by a small margin.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Final Fantasy wins the 1990's easily, Final Fantasy 9 was the last great Final Fantasy game and that was released 2000. The Tales series has been on a roll as of late so I would say Tales is the winner of this decade.

It will probably stay that way.

You need some seriously thick fanboy goggles to even consider putting them on the same level.

Well, you never know. Maybe Vesperia really will change my mind.

oh Tales easily

One iteration shouldn't change your mind when comparing two entire franchises.

It's "Tales of" vs "Final Fantasy", not latest "Tales Of" vs latest "Final Fantasy."
