This is so fake...
UT3, Crysis, and World of Goo all claimed that around an order of magnitude more versions were pirated than bought. This seems to be an average piracy ratio.
Spore had 1.7 million pirated, and 2,7 million bought. Writers just wanted to forge an ironic story about the "huge DRM backslash" that, in fact, didn't happen.
The Sims is the same, it will sell tens of millions and get pirated 1-5 millions, but they will keep call it the most pirated game ever, just to escape into their make-believe world where "shitty EA is punished for milking shitty Sims".

Second, people are so seriously misinformed about the add-ons. They do add a lot of things, not only furniture and careers. Open for Buisiness added buisness micro managing, new types of shops, new skills, new interactions just to name a few... I understand these might not mean so much for people who aren't into Sims, but for those who are it's a great deal of new things. Thing you don't understand is that it keeps the game fresh and there's so many new things to experiance in those Expansion Packs. Stuff packs however don't add a lot, but it's still better than the Sims 2 store (effing rip-off). |
Truth, this is.
I would kinda understand them, they are like my mother, if she look at a screenshot of Half-Life, and Half-Life 2, and declare that the latter is pointless, because no one would want to pay again for shooting stuff at different locations, with slightly better visuals.
It's just a matter of different tastes.
