First off, Infinity Ward has decided to show a new 2 minute or so modern warfare 2 trailer during halftime or the third quarter of game 3 between the cavs and the magic. I believe it starts at 8:30 pm ET on TNT. For anyone who doesnt know.
The real reason for this thread however is the industries popularity. How big is it now? Has it grown since the halo 3 release? If so how much? Does the official debut of a game trailer during an NBA playoff game say more about the industries popularity or CODs' modern warfare franchise popularity? I was so surprised as i sat there during the end of game. Don't remember if it was watching lakers vs. nuggets or cavs vs. magic since i'm following both series. Hearing the host commentator announcing to the viewership that infinity ward will show a new world premiere trailer of modern warfare 2 hitting your local video game stores this fall was surprising, a bit shocking, very cool and i felt kinda proud. I think the industry is truly on the verge of being on par with the film industry for a developer to be able to land a deal with the nba and a cable network during a major sporting event.
What do you guys think?
