I would imagine you could use your own homemade items if you wanted. Already have a toy wheel, use it in a driving game if you want.

i won't get a 360 for this, for god's sake, great games already released don't use this thing, but it sounds interesting

Can the EyeToy detect depth?
This could be a great hit with the right software and if it's bundled with all 360 hardware from now on. If not, it's going to pass by almost unnoticed.

According to the article, it's 3D and can tell distance and the original PS Eye is considered 2D. Not sure if it uses multiple cameras (it does call it a system), or if it has some other sensor(s) for distance.
Personally, I don't see it working well for more than a few niche games.

Poor sega then. Since the Eyetoy was just a ripoff of the "Dreameye" for the dreamcast.

Try reading the article before posting it will help keep you from looking like just another fanboy. You may find out that they do mention Sony's EyeToy. From the article: "While other gaming systems, such as Sony’s EyeToy, are able to detect players’ movements in two dimensions, the Microsoft camera is the first to be able to sense 3-D motion."

The only way to do that is if they are selling you a motion capture stage. Even basic mo cap cameras and basic software to take advantage is going to be expensive.
