it's fine ^_^

i actually meant that Xxain made the statement that star ocean was in developement exclusively for the ps3. and i am still waiting pon a link for evidence of that. and not pure speculation

so what you are saying is that you THINK that micrsoft payed millions of dollars to square enix to get final fantasy XIII and star ocean on heir consoles? where as square enix has not even released one game on the ps3.

I'm sorry to say that square has made statements saying that they were not payed by microsoft.

:O - Ok dsister, im not speaking as a SONY fan right now..I speaking as tri-Ace fan so lets break this down: tri-Ace has always choosen PS as its main platform, SO was made on SNES then ported as an inhanced remake to PSP, SO2 was a PS exclusive and then ported in the same fashion as SO1, SO3 was an exclusive also. Now there if other tri-Ace franchise( Valkryie Profile , Raidiatta stories ) that have also been exclusive to PS but focus on Star Ocean. Now tri-Ace has never been big in the west, but are highly respected in Japan which also happens to be where the bulk of there Sales come from. Now considering the fact that thece grown there franchises on PS and there fanbase also. Why the hell would they bitch there fanbase, and screw themselves out of max sales potential purposely, I could understand Multi, but exclusive to a fanbase that knows nothing about them?? thats makes no sense...youre basically saying tri-Ace screwed themselves out of kindness of there heart?? yea right

@Xxain.

does tri-ace or square enix own the rights to the star ocean ip?

thats not clear..All tri-Ace's fancchise were created BY tri-Ace themselves, but they never had another publishing partner other Enix( SE now), So could tri-Ace make SO,VP, and RS if there not partnered with SE? im not sure, but im leaning towards Yes tri-Ace owns the IP

well, if they own the ips then square has no rights to which platform they are on. so if tri-ace really does own the ip, then there is nothing stopping them from putting it on the ps3.

and if square themselves owns the rights then you have to remember that square also stabbed them in the back.

wrong...tri-Ace has second party relationship with SE( think Insomniac) meaning that there own company, but SE pays for all there game development and has a say to where there games go. tri-Ace can suggest a platform, but if SE isnt satisfied, they add or subtract or change it all together.

look at EA and Valve. Valve made the Orange Box and then Ea(a company that believes in multiplatform games) ASKED them if they could port it to the ps3. if tri-ace really owned the rights to the ip they can just as easily go to sega and get them to port it.

And Valve let EA do it...And had nothing to do with the port besides getting money from it..Valve has said that they will not develop for PS3...

Since the tri-Ace Sega deal is only months old ..it's yet to be seen if it will happen...we all agree that we are not sure if they own the Ip

i saw Xxain say somewhere in the thread that the publisher picks the consoles. but that is not true. Valve could have easily said no and that would have been the end of it.
