Forums - Sony - Heavy Rain Gameplay Images (Big images)

just saw the gameplay and it seems like it plays by it self, it remind me of those old pc games that had several short movie clips and a dvd menu to let you chose the next clip, or those old arcade game that had movie clips of people in then and were rial shooter. not good at all, for now.

I cannot believe the downward visual spiral this game has gone through/

As if the tech-demo was not enough of a mis-representation, but this isn't even all that good compared to that missing chapter they showed at Liepzig last year.

could it be that the game will have a different look for each protagonist?

I think people need to know what genre Heavy Rain is before they say "There's no gameplay". Do games such as Myst lack game play because you can't fully control your character? Are RPGs lacking in gameplay because you have to stand in place? What about RPGs that don't even have combat?

A game doesn't necessarily need to be an action title. I'm looking at Heavy Rain, not as a fighting game, or a Splintercell/MGS4 esque game, but in fact, a game that has many gameplay elements, but without the technical gameplay mechanics.

For e.g. you have the stealth sequence we saw with the journalist girl. You don't have to be an expert at SC, nor precisely push the analogue stick so that you move fast by silently. Instead the stealth is based on common sense and logic, with you deciding if you're going to go for the garrage, or wait for the guy to move (and where to hide). The game also borrows from horror games (I never played RE but I'm assuming it also borrows some horror game elements).

I hope it'll be mostly dialogue based, and getting clues about the character. If the guy that works in the dump sounds suspicious, and you catch on it, you'll be making sure to not put yourself in a vulnerable position. You'll try to build trust with other people, etc.

Don't worry about the QTE, that's not going to be the main gameplay. The main gameplay is dialogue, and using common sense to assess situations.

Even though I'm a bit biased in favor of HEAVY RAIN, I can't help but commend you for such a post. You sir, are obviously someone who did his research, as I tell most people who bash games without basis or reason, to do.

Btw, did you see the Nightclub scene, WoW.....it visually surpasses the "Taxidermest" scene, I mean really!!!

TY (Wow, I type really bad when I'm in school, maybe it's because of this crappy keyboard). If you're looking for another Halo or Killzone, this game isn't. I'm completely fine with games that aren't that action oriented (point and click games, detective games, etc), and although I was worried about the QTE in the E3 demonstration, after seeing the France demonstration, I am very confident in the quality of the gameplay. Story I trust the developers out of sheer faith, and graphics I'll judge after seeing more footage/pictures.

Sooo after watching the video i decided to stop hyping this game at all and focus on some games that actually deliver what they promise.

Now excuse me, I'm going to play the InFamous demo again =D

Research, it works!

Ok, i've watched that, watched all the GameVideos HD footage and have to say, QD really over-promised on both their demos on the visual front.

Not gonna diss the game cos I did Fahrenheit which I loved and I own a copy of Omikron, but graphically they really dropped the ball to what they promised.

What of the video did you watch? The Nightclub scene looks BETTER than the 2008 presentation videos.

I watched the Gametrailers video and the gamevideos content in HD. At least "Taxidermist" had a smooth framerate, this is all over the place.

I'm not sure why you think the club scene was all that, Kane & Lynch did that 2 years ago.

Givin credits for comparing HR gameplay with Myst's?

Seriously now guys... have you EVER get in touch with Myst or Myst clones except BARELY heard of them?

Puzzles, riddles etc. That's Myst gameplay. And it needs to control the whoever character just to solve the puzzles and keep going ALMOST with no scenario or story.

You just proved that you're reffering to games without even knowing what you're talkin about.

Myst??? For God's sake.

And what I see: Never before have a seen such a negative feedback for an anticipated title after a GTTV episode (and man, almost ALL the episode is about Heavy Rain) or something like that.

You Geoff, you better didn't air this video-presentation...

I don't say the game is bad. Not at all. But I see a lot of people dissapointed.  WTH?? QTE FTW?

What is unfortunate is that you replied 20 seconds after I posted. You didn't even bother to read my post. You just saw someone argue and you hit back.
And, let me ask you. What exactly are you doing? You are comparing the Graphical Behemoth you claim HR will be with the (even 2 years ago) aged Kane and Lynch. The guy who reffered to the Tokyo club scene (or the New Orleans scene in Hitman Blood Money-same developer, same engine) talks about the technique.
In the GTTV episode, the man from Quantic Dreams talks about the club scene like we are gonna watch something groundbreaking. Something we have never seen or experienced before. Well, let me tell him something. We've been playin games for ages and we can understand what will shake our wolrd or won't...

To me the most impressive thing about this game is that they have 15,000 plus animations. To me Good animation>>>>>>>>>>>>> any graphical effect.
