Givin credits for comparing HR gameplay with Myst's? Seriously now guys... have you EVER get in touch with Myst or Myst clones except BARELY heard of them? Puzzles, riddles etc. That's Myst gameplay. And it needs to control the whoever character just to solve the puzzles and keep going ALMOST with no scenario or story. You just proved that you're reffering to games without even knowing what you're talkin about. Myst??? For God's sake. And what I see: Never before have a seen such a negative feedback for an anticipated title after a GTTV episode (and man, almost ALL the episode is about Heavy Rain) or something like that. You Geoff, you better didn't air this video-presentation... I don't say the game is bad. Not at all. But I see a lot of people dissapointed. WTH?? QTE FTW? |
I never said compared Myst to Heavy Rain in any other terms, other than that they have unconventional ways of going through the game, and don't follow most action oriented gameplay. Baisicly all I said was that they're both similar in that they're unique (I know that's a paradox, lol). So all I did was responding to people who were saying that the only parts where you actually press buttons, control your character, and be active is the QTEs and THAT is the entire gameplay. I argued that the gameplay isn't rooted in controlling your characters, making them duck, shoot, punch, kick, etc. I said that the meat of the game isn't in the action scenes, but when you talk to people and you're assessing the situation. The 2 pictures I showed, in which I said I was really excited was when I saw the detective game elements, and the part where the guy could intimidate, smooth talk, give a second chance, etc. Does it require any FPS skills, where you have to get a head shot with a twitch? No. Does it require the percission you need in a game like Splinter Cell? No. What it does require is for you to have good common sense, if you want to "succeed at the game" (live I guess). If the guy is being really suspicious, then you'll avoid giving him a second chance. If you're doing a stealth scene, you'll be checking if the floor is creaky or not. No technicalities, only common sense. Am I being confusing? I'm writing this really fast so...
