Forums - General - Has anyone ever tried a long-distance relationship?

I tried having one once but they just don't work. She lived in Georgia, I lived in Texas and after a month or so we just realized it wasn't going to work and she actually called me to break up about five minutes before I was going to call her to break up with her.

We both really liked each other, dated in high school and would see each other when she came down to Texas while I was in college but just work out.

I have had bad experiences with long distance relationships. I have had 2 so far. One my first year in college, that lasted about 3 more months after we went to different schools. My next one was just recently, started in December and lasted til March. We went to the same school but I went to study abroad in Japan. She is Japanese so I was like yea no worries. But after a while I couldn't take it no touching only looking thing. Too many better looking girls to be honest so I broke up with her.

I was dumped in my first and I dumped in the second. I think I'm just bad at it. I'm never doing one again I don't think right now.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

Well, weve thankfully agreed to remain friends and stay in touch, and who knows in a couple of years if we met up what might happen...who knows eh...thanks for the responses everyone, i knew these things were common but not this common...

It's very possible to make a long-distance relationship work. It's a pain sometimes but if you're really in love and have complete trust in each other the relationship is going to hold.

My boyfriend and I spent about 3 and half years of our relationship seeing each other only on weekends but we called each other often and made the best of the time we had together. Our patience was rewarded because we eventually were able to find jobs in the same city and bought a house together.
