If it was too big, well then they could always use multiple DS carts. DQIX does.

Naz, that news about DQ9 was a fake.

Fake or not, there is no reason multiple carts couldn't be used.

They can't use a 512 cart because 256 is the DS cart size limit. That's really all there is to that...

Yes there is, I'm pretty sure "card swapping" doesn't work on the DS. That's how people knew the fake DQIX cards were fake i nthe first place (other than the game not veing anywhere near completion).

No, what I heard was that it was going to be on a 4Gb card...

People, the DS doen't accept other companies', sizes', or type' cards; DS uses Nintendo-patented cards which are capped at 256MB. They're not like Memory Stick, CF, etc.

no surprise. Microsfot is trying to make money anyway they can, or perhaps just trying to help Nintendo beat Sony in the Handheld wars. DS has diddy kong racing, why not viva pinata and blue dragon?

@ routsounmanman, not entirely true nintendo always said if they need more space they can make ds carts who hold more flash memory.

Im pretty sure it would work if save data was stored on a GBA cart. Straight swapping wouldnt work as the DS turns off when a cart is removed.

well not too long ago the limit was 128MB. And before that, it was just 64MB. The sizes keep increasing and don't be surprised to see a 512MB cart soon.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

@omgwtfbbq : The limit was 128MB from launch day; never 64MB.
@SleepWaking : That might be true; I read on IGN few months ago that one of the things they wanted for the DS in 2007 was to increase the card capacity. Don't know if Nintendo has confirmed anything yet.

@Soriku : Are you certain? Has it been confirmed?

Some people theorize Microsoft is allowing first and second party support to support the DS as a counter measure to the PSP which Microsoft has no product of their own to counter with. This is only speculation of course, but with games like viva Piniata and Blue Dragon comming to the DS, there is definitly food for thought here.

Halo on the DS with the Metroid Prime Hunters engine would be interesting.

^^ How about Halo DS using the Unreal 3 engine? O_O
Seriously, Bungie said they could bring Halo on the DS, but not in a FPS form. They said that the DS is not a platform suited for FPSs.

I think MP:H would actually argue against that. That game handles brilliantly, better than most console FPS.

I imagine a Halo DS would then be a side scrolling shooter, not quite as interesting to me.

@rout

IIRC, yes, 2 gigs. 2 carts I think?

Hmmm... 2 Gbytes or 2 GBits?

2Gbytes ~ 2048Mbytes

2Gbits ~ 256Mbytes
