Ok, I want everyone in this thread to do me a favour. I don't have enough time to report you all. So please, report yourself to the mods for breaking forum rules.

"Platform criticism. Posts slamming a particular platform without basis - be it a specific console, macs, windows, or anything similar - will not be tolerated."

?? I don't see it. I went back over the thread and I didn't really see anything overly wrong, perhaps a couple of people bending the rules at a stretch. Its definately not a wholesale breaking of rules here like your post implies.

Try these rules on for size:

Substance. Content is king. Threads lacking content can and will be locked. Some tips to keep you and your posts out of trouble:

  • No posts specifically to to say that a poster or the thread sucks, either with words or pictures.

Reporting Content. If you think a thread or post needs moderator attention tell us by clicking "report this post" and telling us what the problem is. If things need to go further, send a PM to any of our fine moderators. Naturally, we as moderators do not read every post in every thread, and appreciate a helpful head's up from readers when something untoward is going on.

Tease.

Squilliam, Ill quote some people's entire posts

" Either way, Microsoft was losing lots of marketshare to them in the past couple of years for whatever reason. the "I-Sheep" phenomonon or whatever it is that gets people to throw money at Apple."

"Macs actually offer less than PC's big time!"

"There is no "value perception" for Apple...they're just overpriced because of all that proprietary hardware. Mac =/= PS3. It doesn't offer more than the competition, thus justifying the higher price lol"

And if you were implying that I was disobeying those rules, then no, I wasn't.

I did not create a post to say that a specific poster sucks. I created a post to say that several posters were disobeying the rules. Very different thing

I also did not report this to a moderator because I would rather people realise that they are out of line than simply get banned

Thats good, I dislike Apple more than I dislike Microsoft.

But in what world is Apple a small company?

I meant in size, not profits. They always just keep around 2-4 products at a time, unlike a company like Sony that has their foot in everything from car stereos to movie productions. Apple and Nintendo just have like 2-4 products with huge montrous profit margins.  EA is losing a Billion dollars a year and have more studios and developers than any other game publisher in the world. Most of their games are also hugely unprofitable. They lost licences to IP's like Lord of the Rings and James Bond because of consistent low quality. EA and Apple are a horrible fit. If Apple did want a studio, it would probably be a small quirky studio like Rare.

Explain those 2-4 products cause I am seeing closer to 20 products.

Are you counting every single software and accessory that Apple makes for macs and Ipods??? LOL Then Sony has 3 billion products.

No but I am not spliting things up in to generalized groups either, which is probably what you are doing.  if that was the case then Sony only has about 8 products then.

Sony only has 8 products?? Im not even generalizing Apple, they really only have Macs, Ipods, then Iphone and Ipod touch. Sony has at least, Sony Vaio, Bravia Tv, Playstation 3, PSp, Cybershot camera, Sony Ericson phone, Walkman, then they have stereos, car stereos, Then a movie studo, then a music studio, etc. There literally one the largest and most complex, companies in the World!!  Apple has macs, Iphones, and Ipods and they focus on those products like a lazer. They dont care or worry about anything else. Nintendo worries about the Wii and DS and focus on those 2 products like a lazer. How do you compare the 100 year old Sony with their overly large GM like corporate structure with Apple??? LOOOLLLL

Sony products are only  Home Theatre, TVs, Cameras, Walkmans, Playstation, Cell Phones, Car Stereos,  Vaio, Movies, Music.   So I was off by 2 products.  Apple Products are iTunes, Quicktime, iPod, iPhone, Mac Computers, Servers, Wireless Routers, Apple TV.  you were off by 4

I think you've been a little broad with Sony & too specific with Apple, a little consistency please

If you are going to just make catagories for Sony like Movie, Music & Home Theatre, then Apple is just 2 products, Hardware & Software

Sorry,  Movie Studio, Music Studio and Speakers????   Is that better?

You are massively downplaying Sony's involvement in these industries. There are far too many facets of what they do in these divisions to just bundle them under a "music" & "film" banner, it's inconsistent with the way you've broken out individual product lines elsewhere.

If you are going to break out individual product types under their electronics division, then you need to take into account the fact that just for starters there is production, distribution and label/studio management for both their music and film arms, and a product could be involved with 1, 2 or all 3 parts of these "products". There's not just a physical/tangible product with music/film, there's also a large "service" component.

As I said, you're being inconsistent.

Ah but so were you, saying that Apple was a small company casue they only had 2-4 products, if you include the software side alone with all of the codecs and file types they create and support it makes them a big company.   I know how big of a company Sony is, and I know product wise they are much bigger then Apple, but I was just generalizing the groups no differently then you were.  If you actually went into depth of what Apple does you would see how far their reach is in alot of different areas are.

I actually DIDN'T say that, I said that if you were going to be so broad with Sony's product line, then you may as well just reduce Apple's products to Software & Hardware.

You are confusing me with someone else, so don't put words in my mouth

Frankly you're just wrong anyway, codecs and file types are all just types of software so it still falls under my original comments.

why can I not see gamerman's posts? I can see people quoting him, but I can't actually see his posts

Edit:  I just checked his profile, I guess he was permabanned and that is probably the reason why I can't see his posts.  I wonder who he actually was as he was evidently an alternate id
