Forums - General - Showgirls. The greatest film of all time?

I think Showgirls (1995), a film about a gorgeous and talented dancer, played by the equally gorgeous and talented Elizabeth Berkely, is easily up there with any Kubrik/Spielberg/Jackson film.

The story follows Nomi (Elizabeth Berkely) working her way up through the ranks of mere nude dancer, to that of headlining act. The performances are outstanding (doesn't Kyle McLauchlans hair style just make you WET?) and the writing is second to none.

I urge anyone who has not seen this masterpiece to track it down and watch it immediately!!!

I don't know. I've always preferred RoboCop.

The fact that you hold this position and are gay will be one of the great mysteries of our lifetime.

I mean if you were straight and I always thought "Gee I wonder what Jessie looks like naked." I could understand.

Me... I thought it was a bad movie.

Awesome. I wholly endorse this thread.

Seriously, you need to start watching some Stanley Kubrick films

I was 100% joking btw :P

BUT i find it fcking HILARIOUS!!!
My friend and I watch it over and over, mimicking the terrible acting to one another.

AND, it has found itself as a cult gay film, because even though there is lots of nudity, it is probably as 'sexual' as an episode of sesame street.

Showgirls is a great movie.

I'm amazed that everyone thought he was serious... I mean, come on... Did no one catch the Kyle McLaughlin hair comment? His hair was fucking horrible in that movie.

I didn't spend much time noticing Kyle McLaughlin's hair in Showgirls.  I was too busy watching Gina Gershon and Elizabeth Berkely.  And this is a gaming site.  Compared to Cloud, heck any dude probably has passable hair.

The scene where Nomi dresses up in leopard print and kicks the sh*t out of the country musician that attacked her friend was a great!

Well, I think Elizabeth Berkeley is pretty ugly. I'm just not into her at all.

But when Gershon was on-screen, I was definitely not looking at McLaughlin's hair. Still, it's hard not to notice it. The 'do was that bad. It was 10 years late to the Flock of Seagulls party.
