prediction: wii to sell 150million console by end of 2010

Those CD sales are hard copies. People buy from itunes and such. Grow with technology.

The last time I purchased a hard copy for music was probably at least 5 years ago.

Cherry picking article is cherry picking.

As for box office, again, the sources just got diverted to other sources.

ok first of all i just did google search no bias what are you even talking about? cherry sales?? we are talking about music not fruit

@jellyfishprince: That article about box office sales says this:

"To be sure, there was a 7 percent decline in overall U.S. ticket receipts, but the loss came mainly at the expense of independent distributors and studioless studios, which account for more than half of the films released in the United States. So, even though fewer Americans went to the movies in 2005, the big studios did not lose out."

someone give me a list of every single Sony game, music or Film torrent i can find on the internet. Should be fun.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

i sent sonny a email once about how 2 improve the ps3 and they said reply 24-48 hour and 3 week later not a reply!!!

What did you suggest btw?

Sorry it is a little hard to take you serious with your prediction. But who knows, it's a crazy world we live in. :P

"prediction: wii to sell 150million console by end of 2010"

i have it in my sent folder:

dear sonny,

hello I decided that I should share my wisdom with you people on how the ps3 can win this generation. although i am glad you isnot winning for gimmicks this time and nintedo is back i feel like I should be the stronger person and give sonny some advice. here is my plan to skyrocket the ps3 back into the limelight

-they should make a ps3 called ps3i which is pronounced (PEE ESS THREE AI). it will be like a ps3 lite it will be 50% slimmer and 50% lighter. all other ps3 models will be cancelled. existing ps3 owners must mail in their ps3s to get ps3is

-it will feature no blue-ray just dvd playback
-my logic is that you can upconvert dvds to look like blue-rays right? so the games will just upconvert dvds to look like blue-rays so people can save on diodes.

-it will have a motion sensor bar as well as a redesigned controller (the psp can also be used as a controller which would drive psp sales)

-there will be no hard drive only sd cards (following suit with nintendo)

-there will be no more online, but maybe but you would have to pay for it for sure

-it will be able to play all existing ps3, ps2 and ps1 games as well as new games called ps3i games which use the sensor bar.

-it will be more family friendly and maybe the console would be red or something? definietely not black.

-it will retail for $199

This is my logic, well it would first be the cheapest console available and people would think hmm I want a ps3 now I can afford one! and why buy a wii? also think about it, people would have to PAY for online and PAY to use a PSP as a controller. think of all the revenue for sony. also please consider that the manufacuring cost would be so low. every ps3 sold would make at least $100 dollars.I hope I have provided a strong argument in my case . Please do not hesitate to reply with any suggestions. you can use my idea only if you credit me.

This is my idea how the ps3 can win (even though I am more than happy with NINTENDOMINATION).GOODBYE

If you aren't willing to invest the time to use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation - why would a company have a paid employee respond? If they wanted advice that amounted to "Strip down the PS3, call it the PS3i, and make it cheap!!" they could get it anywhere.

He's right. The internet gave Vgchartz herpes.

dumbass....

How much of music sales declining is associated with the internet, and how much is it that people no longer have any need to rebuy the White Album? There are a lot of people who bought the same albums on Records, 8-Tracks, Cassettes, and CDs and there was no need to buy an SACD/DVD-A or MP3 version because the quality of CD was good enough and could be converted into a format for use on their portable music player easily.

How much of the Vanishing Box Office is because of movie piracy, and how much is it because the cost of going to the movies has becomming insane? When you factor in snacks, it can cost in the range of $30 per person to go to the movies, and for the average family (of 3 to 5 people) it only makes sense as a rare family outing.

On top of this, when I was a child it was (fairly) typical for companies to release their VHS version of a movie 12 months after it had left theaters; which worked to encourage people to see a movie while they could, and when a movie was finally released to VHS people were more likely to buy it immediately (or rent it) to watch it again. Today, its not unusual to have a movie released to DVD a month after it leaves theaters, and people have grown accustomed to this short turn around time and feel less motivated to rush to see a movie in the theater.

In other words, while the internet may have impacted their sales their business plan has (potentially) impacted their sales on an equal or greater level.
