Well, i just started playing this game again and its great!

Does anyone care to take an eductaed guess or know any article about how well it sold?

Im guessing in the high hundreds of thousands or millions, but id like a more precise number if possible :)

NPD reported it as the #1 selling retail PC game in March.

Not sure how it sold on download services. (Steam, etc)

Rome: Total War is still selling well considering it's quite an old game and Empire just came out.

I saw Rome recently on Direct2Drive's Top10 a few weeks ago, and I remember that when you could pre-order Empire on Steam you'd get a free copy of Rome.

Great PC games sell for ages.

Probably the weakest in the series (besides MTW2) They just can't get the medeival formula right, IMO.
