Funny, I read somewhere a while back that the PS3 was finally profitable. This is rather disappointing.

You're boasting that Sony is telling us how much their console is bleeding? I don't think they would admit how much they profit per console if that was the case.

Perhaps MS is generating money per console or losing so little they don't want to admit it.

THIS is why I say if the PS3 slim is true you will be lucky to see a max of $50 price cut near the holidays.

Guess only time will tell.

Anyway, with losing 40$ and on a console and shipping like around 1,6 mln. PS3 in last Q, that makes only 64 mln. $ loss(of total 260 mln. $), while probably other costs come from creating games? Unless they starting to lose 40$ only in recent months.
On the other hand, shouldn`t they make some profit from software sales?

Yes they should but obviously that profit is not enough to cover the loss they have and that's how they ended up with 260 millions in red.

 



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
