Do you actually have a source for that 4 million copies of MGS4 shipped number? Because I can't find it at Konami's site.

as you can see, Metal Gear is listed as a Genre/Category.

This does probably mean that the website is under tracking, but not by as much as some would like to claim. Essentially 250k copies of the series were sold between Dec 31, and Mar 31.

Vgchartz has shown strong bias against MGS in the past as well. MGS2 had been confirmed to have shipped over 7 million long ago and I doubt 3 million copies are still on shelves 8 years after it's release. MGS1 had shipped over 6.5 million units but vgchartz wants us to think that over a million are on shelves.

It can't be found, because Konami has never announced how much MGS has sold other than when it broke 3m, and as a series.

mikescoff fails to realize that Metal Gear Solid 2 is not being tracked weekly by VGChartz and has not been updated for a long long time. mikescoff also fails to realize the same is true for Metal Gear Solid.

This site is quite new. If whoever runs this site wants it to be taken seriously he SHOULD update the numbers. Not to mention that I doubt MGS2 and MGS1 was selling much 2-3 years ago, so even when this site originally launched the numbers would have been similar to what they are now.

The forums are over 2.5 years old and the sales database goes back farther than that. How far back, I don't know, but I do know this website was a hobby rather than a job for ioi up until recently. Granted, the totals for some games could be more accurate, but people posting on game walls, and in random sections of the forum don't help the situation. I didn't know about the undertracking until recently. Of course I haven't pointed it out to ioi, but I really don't care about this game and I have better things to spend my time on. One day I may send ioi a note with the links to accurate MGS sales.

The people who control the numbers don't typically read threads like this, and I'm sure they don't read the wall posts. The best bet is to write a courteous e-mail with proper links to admin@vgchartz.com
