I have notice that this is a huge topic in the US if not everywhere. I am not gay. For the longest time, i have been a huge hater against homosexuality due to my religion, but since i am not a Christian anymore, i have looked at gays with much more respect. They are just like us. the only difference is what turns them on sexually.
So the question is: Are you gay/bisexual?

why do you left cristianity? is not that iam judging you, in fact i think is great but why do you leave.

i'd be happy to tell you what happened. I am 18 years old, and have been going to a christian school my whole life, but the whole christian concept never fulfilled my curiousity of the many questions i had such as the diversity of life, why did God create sin, etc. One day, my biology class decided to go into the subject of evolution(which of coarse they criticized it). I had a feeling that they weren't telling the whole picture of evolutio due to being a Christian school. I decided to read the origin of species in order to get a full interpretation of evolution. I learned that natural selection was indeed true, and if natural selection is true, why couldn't species change over a long period of time. After that, my parents soon learned that i had started to believe in the concepts of evolution and told me that doing that will only get me to hell. I then declared myself as a theistic evolutionist in order to satisfy both my beliefs and not to get my parents livid, but i was still curious. I began expanding my mind to new ideas and new concepts.
Later that Biology teacher made a project asking one side of the class to show Christian's views on life(i was in this side) and the other on atheist's views on life. Being Christian's, they nailed down atheism saying that they have no morals, no rights of any kind. I began debating with him saying that if natural selection is true, wouldn't those that shared and worked together have a better chance of survival than the selfish. He began getting angry with me and told me that this is not the time for that kind of talk(which ironically it was).
One big turn around for me was when my Bible teacher taught me that homosexuality is an abomination, and began to belittle them. I began debating with him by replying
Me- Why are you belittling the gay community so much? They are people just like us Bible Teacher- NO! they are corrupted and are like murders and adulterers! Me- But if you are a Christians, you should love them any way. Besides Moses was a murderer and David was an adulterer. Bible Teacher- That maybe true, but they are still in sin and are a disgrace! Me- If you didn't know they were gay, you would be treating them with respect. They act just like us except for their sexuality, it shouldn't be such a big deal. Bible Teacher- That's a dehall for you! Me- What did i do wrong? Bible Teacher- You were promoting homosexuality which is against God's Law!
Realizing that all Christians do is exclude others and anyone who isn't like them is damned. I didn't want to be with such arogant and hypocritical people and renounced Christianity.
I then began talking to gays around me with much more respect and now believe that "fag" and "queer" are insulting. I still have a habit of saying "that's so gay", but i am trying to do better.
After that i made this post, and am seeing all the nice people here who are gay and are just like me.

Aren't you generalizing/being prejudice against Christians by saying that "Realizing that all Christians do is exclude others and anyone who isn't like them is damned. I didn't want to be with such arogant and hypocritical people and renounced Christianity."

Well...it says so in your Bible. If you don't believe that, then your not a Christian, which is why i am not on any more. I'm not saying that going against homosexuality is wrong. I am saying that is not my beliefs. I believe that everyone should be able to pursuit happiness, and if Jesus makes you happy, GOOD FOR YOU!!!

I know many Christians (living in liberal NJ) along with Jews that "pick and choose" from their holy text. Can't you also be Christian and reject the Holy Roman Church, and even the religious texts/parts of it? Christianity is a pretty diverse religion with many sects. It has also evolved, and religion in parts of the US is interesting, as I said, especially in liberal areas.
Can't you also not approve of something, and accept others into your fold/group? Do the writings in the bible (I never read it myself), and the teachings of the bibles make Christians arrogant and hypocritical? (Well, actually I do believe, from my limited knowledge of the bibile, that there are a lot of hypocricies in the god character. The Problem of Evil alone is a bit of a paradox [I don't know if you'll technically call it hypocricy])
So again (I'm an Atheist BTW), aren't you generalizing an huge group of people, that are diverse, and have many different schisms in terms of beliefs within?
