Forums - Microsoft - Xbox360 Price cut?

Sorry i have no pics or some kind of link but i was just randomly visiting a few of my local electronics destinations, and noticed that all models of the Xbox360 were all cut down an extra $30 to $169, $269, $369 respectively.  I was wondering if this is just some random-once awhile price cut, or have some of you gamers witness these new prices as well in your game shops?  Is MS planning on having more of a permanant price cut anytime soon?

Just thinking how an Xbox360 Arcade is same price as a PSP and cheaper than the DSi, and the Pro is cheaper than a Wii is just wow in my head (sorry dont know how to express in better words lol).

If anybody is looking for a new Xbox360, stop by your local shops and surprisingly you might find them at these prices.  Prices like these imma definately tell any of my friends that are interested in getting an Xbox360.

And if these prices occured before please let me know since this is the first time i've witness this.

There have rumours about a new hardware model changeup -> 512MB Arcade which may be only part of the whole story. With all the rumours going round about a new peripheral as well, I wondered if something like this would happen.

I actually predicted a hardware changeup towards the start of the year and if its true then i'll be so happy to be proved right!

You may be one of the first to report this so congratulations.

lol thnx, just sharing the good news =)

I was also thinking that a permament price cut of just $30 would do wonders for Xbox 360 sales in the United States for two reasons.

1. It means people can buy the 360 + tax for less than $200 or $300 out the door and people aren't fooled by the tax-less price anymore.

2. The average price of the Xbox 360 is closer than people think to the PS3, there must be quite a few people who are going 50/50 between the two consoles as the ASP is currently $290. I mean its BR + Wireless/online costs on the one hand and awesome price and games on the other. (Don't hate, Xbox 360 games suit America so deal with it if you've got an issue with the above)

agreed...and yea America loves Xbox360 there's no denying it lol

Can you name the stores?

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

^ An Xbox 360 slim? Well I would have to be optimistic to predict a slim version this year, though with wireless becoming more important, that would be the only way to incorperate it into the design. (Very short sighted Microsoft, ya)

Ar these stores in the U.S. or in U.K. or Japan. That's the big question. I haven't see any price drops on the XBox 360 here in the U.S. I've seen a lot of bundles. Fry's Electronics had a $399 Elite bundle with Gears or War (1st game), Fable 2 and Halo 3. I actually wanted to get that, but went out of state on a little vacation. If they still offer it, I'll probably pick it up.

They should cut it down to like $50.

These stores are in Canada. Few stores i saw them at are Radio Shack, Zellers, even Superstore, Loblaws (grocery stores are great for finding low prices). Stores like Futureshop/Bestbuy are just recently heavily bundling the HD consoles with games.  Figured big electronics stores can still market at current price 'offering' free games, and think most customers will still go to them instead of the stores i've just listed.

Odd tho is that due to the currency exchange of CAD and USD, our games are more expensive, (like a US new release at 59.99 would be 69.99 CAD, the PS3 120gb Uncharted bundle is $499 in US, but its $519 in Canada). One time our futureshop/bestbuy had just the core PSP selling at $199 which is the same price as the R&C PSP bundle.

Its more expected to see a price rise here, but seeing these new lower Xbox360 prices questioned me. Which is also why i ask if others have been seeing these? or even just elsewhere in Canada?
