Forums - PC - Fun with Micro ATX boxes

So I built a new computer for my brother last night for his birthday, first time I built a micro ATX box. So weird to be able to build a computer entirely on one's lap.

Nothing crazy, he just wanted a basic system for Word, Internet, Email and porn. LOL

Celeron 2.6 ghz, 2 gb ram, 80 gb SATA HD, 22x DVD burner, on board ATI video. Built for less than $150

Is this a thread or a Twitter post?

Either way this would be more interesting if you posted a picture of it.

LOL just an observation post, as I was intrigued by the small form factor of micro atx. Will score some pictures tonight, really nothing overly exciting in there though.

Any feedback on micro atx setups for gaming rigs? Been looking at a few nice ATX cases on newegg, some that look just a little bigger than a GameCube

Not bad for the price and (I'm guessing tiny) size of it. although, i would have gone for a larger hard drive.

For a gaming rig with a micro ATX size, there are definitely plenty of high end micro ATX motherboards specifically for gaming. As long as you don't go too crazy with graphics and processor, cooling shouldn't be a problem. But then again, the smaller the case you go, the less options you have.

@Jon - Yeah that's my concern, is keeping a micro atx cool for high end gaming, as there's not a ton of space to work with. My current plan is to go quad core with 4 gb ram, not sure which vid card yet. Its a bit down the road yet, maybe the i7 prices will come down in price by then
