Last year I got my device to control my PS3:

IR4PS3

Works so well I forgot Sony made a big mistake not integrating Infrared into PS3.


By the way, about time Logitech wakes up!!!

What is this IR4PS3 thing?  I was under the impression that the Logitech gizmo was the first of its kind.  Can you give links to the IR4PS3 please?

Ah, so this is kind of a work around somebody made, not an official one.  Still good since there was nothing else, but the Logitech adapter seems like the much better deal.

This would cost you $73-79 (no idea what it would cost to ship it to US) and no idea on the quality and since until now it was probably abotu the only thing, probably not a bad idea.  Now that the Logitech adapter is out, it's an actual product and only cost me $60 total so it's the better choice I think.

So I just got my adapter today and set it up and I like it. It actually turns on and off my PS3 with the press of a button, it has all 51 buttons, and it's simple to setup.

I've only played with it a very small amount but so far it's already leaps and bounds better than the Nyko remote.

 You do know that you can turn on your PS3 by pushing the PS button on the controller right ?

This is great, but to sort of divert from the OP a bit;
I always have enjoyed the official PS3 remote.
I still instinctively point the remote at the PS3, even though I know that I could be controlling the PS3 from 30 ft away.

I guess I am not sure why anyone would have bought a usb dongle remote control for the PS3 when the official remote has always worked and looked so much better.

but yes, it is a bit silly not to have IR in the PS3, but just a bit.

Oh I completely agree that if you don't want to control your PS3 with some kind of universal remote this adapter is an absolute waste of money.  The only reason you would want to buy the Nyko USB remote if you're not wanting to use a universal remote is if you're just wanting to save yourself a few bucks.  Other than that, the Nyko remote itself is fairly worthless since it's just so bad.
