i would figgure that all the exclucives that sony droped(dropping) this year(next Year) (PS3 and PSP) had an impact, i think that when those start selling, that should be a step in the right direction... im not too woried.

Damn......the PlayStation brand is not going to die but this is making it painfully obvious a price drop especially one to make it mass market price is still a LONG way off. Sony really messed up this generation.

not another sega lamentation...I guess it's impossible to see that sega killed sega just like sony is close to doing to itself. Neither of these companies fell because of competition. I give up on you guys though....can't keep saying the same thing over and over again.

I bet Sega is very happy with this. What goes around comes around =P

I don't think they will drop out of the console market though... If ps4 fails this hard again then there might be a change that they drop out.

Well, the full names of PS consoles are Sony Playstation 1, 2 and 3. The absence of the Precursor "sony" would put a gaping hole in whatever value it still has. Thus, I'd argue that it will never be sold. It would be revamped as a best case scenario or canned at the worst case scenario.

Euhm, Sony would have done a lot better if it wasn't for Microsoft. Just like Sega probably wouldn't have dropped out if Sony didn't make the playstation.

While sega did plenty of damage themselves...Dreamcast was essentially killed by PS2 hype. No one can deny that. I am not blaming sony for doing this, but I find it funny that the same strategy that worked last gen (bundling DVD with console) is screwing them in the rear this gen... hence why blue hedgehog is laughing.

I don't hate Sony myself...jsut find it funny thats all. Did you know that many people from Sega moved on to Sony aftewards?  Did you know that the guy that made sonic the hedgehog works for Naughy Dog and worked as a gmae designer on such games as Jak 2 and 3 and Uncharted?

your exactly right Sega killed itself and Sony are coming dangerously close to doing the same thing.

I fully expect there to be a ps4 however they will have to adopt a completley different strategy and if they face losses like this still next-gen then yes I would certainly start to worry about the continuation of the brand.
