@Squilliam, after some time, GC was selling for 99$, BUT this price didn`t help.
x360 is already a CHEAP console.
The pricecut, wont help much, since it`s already at MASS market price.

While, PS3 is yet to enter to that 299$ mass market price.
Also, PS3 game base is growing fatser, than x360. that`s why PS3 will be a MUST HAVE console. It will have too MANY GREAT AAA games, to be ignored.

You're making some serious assumptions here. Theres no assurance than the PS3 will reach the $299 price point this year. Its what you would like to happen, but its not assured that it will happen. Also even if the PS3 reaches $299 theres always the extremely likely possibility that the Xbox 360 will reach the $149 and $199 price points at the same time. A $299 PS3 is relatively more expensive than a $199 Premium than it is now at the current prices.

Aren't you doing the same thing? LOL!

Microsoft stated that they wanted to secure their second place position. I have seen no such specific statements from Sony to contradict such a statement. Also when they are making money its easier to believe that they can afford a price cut, especially compared to a company which hasn't made any money so far this generation.

But you still made an assumptions. We'll have to wait and see, right?

We never know maybe by that time, PS3 overtook 360 already and gain profit at the same time or the 360 increased the gap by 15-18 million.

EDIT: I am talking about the worlwide sales not American sales.

You're using poor english! But yeah we still do have to wait and see. Though I think my position is more sane than most who wear PS3 related items in their signatures.

Though local sales do infer local support, for example the PS2 is getting far more support in Japan than any other country for example. So a console could be pulled from one market hypothetically but not another.

I cannot agree with your theory Squil. The PS3 has too much push now and with some good HW price points it will be here for the long run.

See, games like FF13 and FF13 Verses will blow out HW sales. Also GT5 and an exclusive GTA game that Rockstar has in the works will only cement the PS3's future even further. Not to mention a shit load of other killer exclusives like GOW, etc, etc. Also, the slim PS3 that is comming will be released at the right time for extra growth.

Right now u are correct with the slow U.S sales currently, but things change. U have been here long enough to no this, tho, right. I cannot see the 360 selling more if it is cheaper, also. It is at it's sweet spot now. We all now in our hearts what the PS3 will do when it hits it's sweet spot. There is just way too many games and too much support for the PS3 for it to end so quick when it has only just warmed up. My 2 cents.

U are speculating, again. Lets look at 3 facts;

1. The PS3 when it had it's only price cut 1.5 years ago had good increases in HW and continually out sold the 360 till mid/late last year. Small price cut, too.

2. The 360 is a lot cheaper than the PS3 now, so it should be selling a lot more than the PS3, yes? Well it is not.

3. All SONY consoles have continued to sell, and well, well after the next gen platform is released. SONY also is very good at supporting and continuing SW well into later years, too. Now M$ has yet to relesae even one console that is supported with their next gen.

All these FACTS tell me that the PS3 will be pushed well into the PS4's life cycle weather the PS4 is released early or not. And that a $100 price cut will do wonders to HW sales when it comes.

Another fact; the SW line up is extreamly strong well into the future for the PS3 and it seems to be getting back to normal here in Japan, too with bigger support comming every day.

1. The PS3 had a MASSIVE price cut, 33% or $200 doesn't matter how you cut it, it was big. If you don't believe me, explain why the SKU balance between the 60/20GB SKUs by far favours the 60GB when people at the time were struggling to afford the console? If people could buy the 20GB SKU freely it would have outsold the 60GB SKU by a landslide.

2. The average price of the Xbox 360 sold in America is $290, it outsold the PS3 by ~55% being only 28% cheaper and thats without having Blu Ray or free online or wireless or a spotless reputation for reliability.

3. No Sony console previous to the PS3 has failed to win a generation and no console which has won a generation has failed to sell well into the next generation. Do you see how past trends still don't prove how this console will be sold?

4. THAT $100 price cut is still a pipe-dream at this point. If it doesn't come in 2009 it may as well not come at all.

5. The software lineup may be strong, but only one game in it really matters and one game on its own can't change things.

Tease.

This thread is also a "pipe-dream".

Anybody else here think that Crazzyman is just a pre-programmed internet bot programmed by Sony to post incoherent remarks supporting the PS3 on every internet blog out there?

$199 Premium XBox 360 would be $349 + $199 Premium + $50 annual  online (recurring annual fee of $50) + $100 WiFi adaptor. MS gives you less and you have to pay more.

For $299 PS3 would have WiFi, "free" online in PSN which is better than XBox Live and also connects to internet and has Blu-Ray player all included in its price. Sony gives you more it is all included in its price.

The chances are more likely the XBox 360 will not survive passed 2012. X720 will arrive and we all know by Microsoft's past track record they quickly dump the old console.

PS3 has the 10 year plan which is an Iron Clad promise from Sony. Sony always deliver on their promises. 10 year PS3 life is guaranteed. PS1 last for more than 10 years. PS2 has been selling for 9 years and will certainly live for 10 years+. PS3 will follow the path of its two predecessors and it will last for 10 years.

English is not my native language. Sorry for the poor english. Did I use wrong grammars? I would appreciate it if you correct me for my wrong grammar.

OT: I agree (bold part) but it still early to make an assumptions that PS3 will be discontinued before 2012 in America.          I believe that there is still alot people that doesn't have a PS3 or a 360 or a Wii.

Great games and a pricecut will do wonders for the PS3.
