Once the new generation lanches the third party dev. aren't going to invest some 30 million on a thrid place console with the smallest userbase. The wii will be like the PS2. All the others will get next to nothing.

Why would any third party dev. spend that kind of money when the wii is at least 50% cheaper and has the largest installbase which dwarfs the two others. People, think. That makes no sense.

The PS3 is a fine console and a very good bargain for what it delivers. But it is the GC of this generation. Nintendo dropped it like a brick, so will Sony. It sucks but what are you going to do about it.

This gen the PS3/360 actually had an advantage though...since devs didn't expect the Wii to be #1 they made all their engines and stuff and worked on the HD consoles. Turned out the PS3 couldn't maintain most games alone so they brought them to the 360 as well. Also some devs are still stuck in the "Wii can't sell core games" mentality (mainly Western devs though). Though it's not like quality games aren't on/coming to Wii either...

Next gen I'd expect them to be more cautious. Waiting to see if the Wii 2 (which will be HD thus making those graphic heavy devs happy enough) to dominate (which, if Nintendo plays their cards right again which they should, it probably will). Some casuals *may* want to stick with the Wii leaving a userbase open with core gamers on it, but Nintendo will, of course, do all in their power to get those casuals to migrate (those casuals may even develop into gamers like us by then which Nintendo definitely aimed to do).

your expecting SONY and MS too let Nintendo take them by storm again????, believe SONY and MS WONT let Nintendo have its advantages it has now.

This good point of Soriku is something that's new this generation.

It may help the PS360 but It will be a slim relief for both companies. They better have a good plan for the next console.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Of course not. But they're not wanting to let that happen now and they're too busy bickering among themselves. We'll have to see their positions next gen. If MS and Sony still stay core mainly and use the same strategies as this gen they'll be screwed next gen as well.

I will assure you they wont...SONY will be fighting to retake its throne and I know MS wants it first victory. Nintendo only one this gen because they Falcon Punched the shit out of everybody. I look forward for tomorrows war( hopefully 2015 though)...but STILL PS3 WILL LAST 10 YEARS

PS2 gave game devs alot of graphic power to use and Xbox even more so...the reason why the Xbox 360 got the support it got was due to game devs liking what MS was doing with their system...While the Xbox did not last as long as the Ps2 it was substantilly more powerful and the ps2 respectively was no slouch....it was only natural for the next gen console to upgrade from there...Nintendo sought to take gaming in a different direction and used what they deemed necessary....the fact of their sucess is just good for nintendo and those who like it's premise...

HD TVs are behind upgrades not the consoles themselves which are optimized to support HD tv's...

Good luck running 256+256MB RAM, and the amount of polygons that the PS3 puts out in 2015.

Well, MAYBE if Sony is giving up on the console business they continue to do this. It will be SAD if Nintendo gets out a home console that blows away the PS3 on the graphics front, for $250, COMPLETE with waggle.

wii got even less memory that wasn't a problem this gen.

even so, even a ps4 comes out what they mean ps3 will still be selling. and 360 have the same 512mb limit

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no.

I'll go though each point and mention just what is wrong

  1. TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT SELL GAME CONSOLES. In fact, let me quote Malstrom. "Note that the OnLive site and all keeps referencing ‘technology’, never ‘customers’. A technology emphasized approach won’t work because…surprise… gaming is in the entertainment business, not technology business. I’ve never seen any proposal for any product, be it game or device, succeed in this industry when its trumpet is honking ‘technology’." It shows in the PS3. The system has the best technolgy, but is in the least demand.
  2. Wanna know who has the game? No Sony, that's who. GTA showed the problem with Next Generation gaming. There are very few games that are as big as GTA, and it didn't move many consoles. FF13 might not push many consoles (besides maybe a quick boost in Japan). GoW also isn;t a high profile game. It didn't do so well on the PS2 despite its large userbase. There is no demand for the games on the PS3. More on this later
  3. OK, what? Did that make sence to anyone else. For what I've got: The problem with your logic is that it assumes the PS3 will always sell. This is so niave. If it goes to $200, it might not sell a lot more then at $250, or $300. A price drop wont push sales enough to keep the system selling or being viable. Here is a nice little image describing the situation
  4. Business is about losing. Sometime you lose. If not enough developers are taking the programs, then why continue the PS3. The problem with this is that the developers will have to move away from HD gaming. It is too expensive to keep going and most companies will not make their money back. In fact, it is more profitable to make a Wii game, even it of sells less then a 360/PS3 game. Developers are (finally) starting to realize that they need to focus more on the Wii. The PS3 will eventually lose resources. It is too expensive and has too small a user base to make money on.
  5. What is an echosystem. Wikipedia doesn't even know. Here, we forget that videogames are meant to play videogames. Look at the sales chart on the home page. See how the PS3 is in last place despite those non-gaming features. Tells you something, don't it?
  6. I won't talk about this becuase I know little about the new managment. I will say they may be happy to kill of that annoying PS3. The last thing they need is something eating away at their revenue.
