Number 9 is very telling on what they will be working on with M$.

I wonder if they will be like Mistwalker? A small core team, outsourcing their big work to a pool of software development talent somewhere else? Like these people are the core designers but someone else does most of the boring jobs coding the games?

I think they will be similar to Rare.  They might develop some games, but will be used mostly by M$ for whatever new thing they have coming out.  Probably develop some APIs for external developers and internal teams to interface with the new thingamajig that M$ is making.  Also, provide some extra man power for external devs that need help.  M$ is actually quite nice in this regards as they are willing to bend over backwards with support for clients.

I am fairly certain that Rare helped a pretty good deal with the 360'sLive's APIs and the NXE and possibly XNA, so this new Studio will probably be used in a similar manner.  Then again, I could be completely wrong.

It doesn't make sense to take one dream team of varried game development/production talent and use it to make APIs. There seem to be a lot of chiefs in their makeup, which is why I wondered how they would develop games. Its not a big team like Rare, but they do have a lot of core talent/experience with games and big selling games at that.

I am not sure they should be considered a dream team.  No, they probably won't be making API's, but they will probably be the main team supporting whatever it is that M$ is revealing at E3.  Releasing games and providing external groups with support, and probably also some evangelicism(is this a word?) for the new functionality.
