Forums - Sony - UMD less Patapon 2 ... a dangerous trend ??

I know they don't want you to sell the games or buy them used. However, they have been making profits for 30 years without this.

Understanding that they want to "increase" their profits and wanting to pay more are two different things.

If everything works out for the corporations that want to increase their profits you will be paying for your bandwidth by the number of bytes you download as well.

I hate to crush your dreams like this, but Comcast and other ISPs are thinking about instituting a download cap. Where you will pay for the total byte bracket and then a charge per megabyte after that.

Don't almost all ISP's already have a badnwidth cap? I know mine does.

Comcast is at 250gig a month limit already. PSP games are small but larger next gen games will be above and beyond 8 gigs a month lol.

It's just that simple.

yeah but it's really really high at the moment at like 100GB per month or something.

It will be much much lower in the future.

Consumers run the industry not the developers. No one will buy your product unless you can convince them. People also forget DS games are just as easy to pirate yet games sell million on the DS.

oh and what, you think the big dont have enough too consumers to with it, hell I cans see SONY MS and Nintendo working together for this one reason(maybe not Nintendo...imediatly at least

So, does this mean that if I want to play games for free I should get a PSP3000 instead of the new PSP GO!!!?
Still, I'll wait on the specs for GO! before I make any decision.

Can you try to reply to my post in one post? Makes things a lot smoother around here.

Nintendo/Sony/MS/Whomever can do what they please but if no one buys your product then your SOL. Nothing can change that fact. Also lets not forget the majority of consumers are not as loyal as they once were outside of Japan. People go for whats fun and cheap, hence the Wii selling gangbusters. If say the Wii HD were to be both downloadable and disc format and the PS4 was download only, do you really think everyone would be willing to go Sonys route?

It's just that simple.

me too man, i cant to see how sexy the PSP GO is,

@Xxain

Citing piracy as a reason for download only games is a cop out. The companies want to make "more" profit. PSP would not be alive if Sony was losing money on it. Software sales may be down but hardware sales were up.

Sony wanted PSP to replace your walkmens, your PMPs your gameboys etc. It is a multimedia device not just game and the focus was not on just games. Once this is rectified situation will improve.

One reason PSP did not take off (which is actually debatable as 47 Million is a HUGE number by any standards) as compared to DS is because DS has backward compatibility with gameboy. I bought one simply because it would be easier for me to have only one device. Innovative games (nintendogs, brain games) with DS added more casual gamers into the mix which did not happen with PSP but they came in later.

The library of PSP was filled with ports (and not so good ones at that), better games sold well. Sony had a chance with PSN to make PS1 games available on PSP which a lot of people would not have minded paying for again (including me) but they botched it.

I have used my PSP for skype, for music and for games. I also play PS1 games I own and the ones I got from PSN on it. I have not pirated games for it. Just because CFW is popular it doesn't mean people are pirating games.

Again, piracy is not an excuse to make people (who already pay for their games) pay for LESS.

That's pretty low IMO actually. I always have a hard time keeping within the 100GB limit. Shouldn't the cost of bandwidth be  dirt cheap by now? With consumers downloading larger and larger files shouldn't the cap be raised signifficantly in the coming years? Things like Blu Ray and etc are making these caps obsolete.
