so why does it seem like a lot of people want the NY Islanders to move?

over the last nine years the team has acheived a 208 million defecit and over those same nine years has had the lowest attendance in the league. It is just one of the teams most deserving of a move.

yea but they have a history and are an NHL staple.

To be fair, part of the Islanders problem is that local politics have tied up their new arena. Nassau Coliseum is as decrepit as Mellon Arena, but no new facilities are forthcoming in that case.
The team has been mismanaged and badly coached, for sure, but playing in an old arena with fewer seats and boxes than modern facilities can't help.
Go Wings!
Yes, Canada should get more teams.

Nintendo still doomed?

I would prefer new franchises be created rather than teams being moved, but the islanders need a new arena and someone with money to burn to survive.

Hamilton would be ideal, they'd just have to upgrade Copps colisseum to NHL standards. Toronto would still sell out and it wouldn't hurt Buffalo much. Bettman would rather see a new team in the Southern US then Southern Ontario. He should be fired, he's doing more harm then good to the league. |
The funny part is most NHL games in the US are on a channel most people have never even heard of... I'm not even sure i have it and i have like 400 channels.

Exactly. Americans have no appreciation for the sport. Send one up to Canada. I mean really, HOCKEY in PHOENIX?
