Forums - Gaming - FFXIII demo coming for 360

A Blu-ray demo of the game was bundled with the release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete in Japan last month, a move that contributed to a quadrupling of PS3 sales.

Square Enix producer Yoshinore Kitase commented to videogamer.com “The type of demo version we released in Japan, we currently have no plan of doing that abroad, partly because we are going to carry on with the project alongside the Xbox version, so we really can’t just make it available only for the PS3.  But we hear that the demo version normally means something that you can download in the West, so that is a possibility we would like to check.”

Kitase also explained that a PS3-exclusive demo would be unfair to the Western audience that’s also expecting an Xbox 360 demo.

Supposedly this will be a 5GB demo for PSN/XBL, but downloading a file of that size would take forever, not to mention it would be extremely expensive for Square Enix, considering publishers have to pay for bandwidth costs on the PlayStation Network.

Dont count on it, I dont think the PS3 or the 360 will see a demo in EU or NA

I think that you misunderstood. He's saying that there won't be a 360 demo. When he says, "Kitase also explained that a PS3-exclusive demo would be unfair to the Western audience that’s also expecting an Xbox 360 demo."

He's saying that as a reason that there won't be a demo in regions where the 360 version of the game will be sold. He's not saying that both systems will get a demo, it's the opposite: no system will get a demo.

the demo sucks. release the f$·%" game already.

I've downloaded demos off the PSN before that were close to 5GBs. So the demo size won't be much of a problem and they took 2 hours max to download

You're on a miracle internet connection if you can download like 2.5 gigs an hour.

This may be too expensive for Square to release a download. Sony charges 16 cents per gig for people who release demos. At five gigs, you're close to $1 per download (80 cents). Final Fantasy is a super huge franchise so I could see it getting over a million downloads easily. It'd probably top that within 48 hours. Thats a hell of a price to pay.

Nah I've got a 3mb connection. Nothing special but ask most ps3 owners with the same connection and they'll tell you around the same. Oh and when i say close to 5GBs i'm talking more like 3.5 to 3.8GB max for some of those demos but honestly even at that size they never took me long to download.

As for Sony charging for each GB downloaded, well i'm sure Square and Sony would have worked something out about between them over the demo.
