Forums - Gaming - New Mistwalker RPG to be announced “sometime this year”

Planning to basically put importance on having seamless control of the overall direction of the game, mixed with CG spectacle scenes. Controls will have a bit of a trick to it, while having a blend of RPG-type strategy and growth. Behaviors based on interaction with the situation around you. Wait, I’m not supposed to say more than this.

Sometime this year, it seems I’ll be able to announce what this new project is. During that time, we will try and post model artwork, behind the scenes stories, as well as introductions to staff who worked on the development. With all the different elements and staff putting their “heart and soul” into it, it feels different from projects until now, but in a good way. Please look forward to it.

Blue Dragon 2 would be more likely.

eww haha i diddnt really like Blue Drragon.

This is the third topic referring that news story.

@ Claude

The news story took this from the official Mistwalker website, so it looks like this is coming before Blue Dragon.

I still don't see "Lost Odyssey" written on this. Japan did not give much of a damn about LO but went gaga over Blue Dragon, which was emphasized to be a continuing franchise. Considering that Microsoft is trying to break into Japan with checkbook RPGs it doesn't make much since to make a sequel to the one Japan didn't care for over the one that actually made a difference.

Just my opinion.

I wonder why Japanese didn't jump over LO? its so close to Final Fantasy games.

But i hope its LO2...haven't beaten the first one but its fun.

never played blue dragon...

Surely sometime this year must mean E3.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Mistwalker's vision for there series...

Lost odyssey=Final fantasy

Blue dragon=Dragon Quest

@Claude

Oh, I didn't realize he put Lost Odyssey in the OP. I agree that it likely isn't LO2. I'm guessing it's a new IP this time around.
