do you know what happened, were you doing a clean install or an upgrade?

I'm trying to do a clean install.  I have given up for now, but maybe a little later I'll get the ambition to try and complete the install again.  From what I read up, it sounds like it might have something to do with either the MS driver for my Nvidia chipset or the driver for my Nvidia video card.
