You really think that would be enough?  It wouldn't be for me.  I mean think of the implications.

Persona 5.  That's one of your biggest brands.  Not to mention releasing it on PS3 would almost definitly mean needing to reuse the engine... which would mean reusing a lot of the art assets... but not all of them.

Which means for future games they would need to make HD models of at least the quality sony was funding so it fits in with the previously reused monster models.

Which would cost that same money.

If it were me... it'd take a multi-game funding gurantee.

 

They can just use the engine Sony made for devs then.

 

How does that fix the problem I stated? (Bolded part).

Possible yes.  Reasonable... if there is a definition where all other consoles are more likely but it still could happen.

The installbase is there, Disgaea 3 and Demon's Souls sold great, Wii's installbase doesn't gaurentee huge sells..in not gonna troll nintendo but you know what i mean.

Disgaea 3 sold worse then Disgaea 1 and 2 and apparently cost more.

Why?  Fractured userbase.

Also... Disgaea and Persona aren't exactly the same market.  Which is the issue.

Each niche is it's own unique thing opon itself.

As for the Wii... why do people think I'm argueing for the Wii when in every post i say "PSP."

Still... Wii is more reasonable just due to the fact that you could upport from a wii or PSP version.

No other factors even need to be considered.

It didn't sell well for a niche title.

It cost more... and sold less then previous titles.

Furthermore it's a SRPG.

 

Demon souls is also nothing like P5.  It's a better arguement for why MH3 would sell on the PS3 then P5.

How is an Action RPG niche?  Action RPGs are the most popular RPGS there are.

I'm assuming you mean P4.

What if a huge amount of people who bought P4 own a Wii?  It makes more sense looking at the installed bases in Japan.

Or PSPs.  Or DS.

All three of these are more likely scenarios then the one you proposed... much much more likely.

Well first of all, right off the bat I'll say this specific rumor is complete bull. No way they would announce a Persona game at E3. Persona barely sells in America. It would be announced at TGS or in a magazine issue in Japan.

Second, there are a few points worth making her:

Limiting tech level on the PS3 like Disgaea 3 did would allow you to make a PS3 game just a cheap as a PS2 or Wii game. So the costs argument is kinda moot.

That said, the demographics argument is not. From a sales standpoint the PSP would make much more sense, and I think that's significantly more likely. I think Wii is just about as likely as PS3.
