Forums - Sony - I want to paint my playstation

Hey guys I bought a ps1 for £5:99 from cash generator not so long ago, its the origional larger ps1 and ive seen some people paint theres black and I want to do the same, I'm not worried about ruining it as i only paid £5:99. Just wondering what sort of paint I should use or where to get the paint from any ideas?

Off topic, but wouldn't the Playstation 1 be "only the beginning?"

On topic, any paint you can use on plastic I would imagine would work fine on your PS.

I'm mostly worried about using crappy paint that's going to leave lumps or summit

and the "playstation 3, its only the beginning" meaning its just starting to shine i think :)

Go head paint it.

Don't be scared.

I wouldnt recomend it my friend

DO IT!

ha ha thanks for the advice, but why did you want to paint a light bulb?, Im gonna do it tomrow going to  take the shell off it and spray it black, or dark blue not sure yet

I am a custom automotive painter by trade so here is what I suggest:

Mask off any areas you don't want painted including under the drive door. You don't want over/under spray getting everywhere.

Use an abrasive sand paper at 600 grit and scuff it until the plastic is dull. Take care to get into creases and around edges and such.

Use a plastic adhesion promoter. You should be able to get this in a spray can.

Use a paint suitable for automotive applications. Can be a spray can if you don't have access to a spray gun etc.

Once it is the colour you want, use an automotive clear-coat to protect the paint. You should also be able to get this in spray can form.

That is basically it.
