BHR-3 said: damn u lucky xboxers i hope therell be a port for the ps3 this year |
Unfortunately this won't ever happen. Valve doesn't do PS3 games.
|
They might. If the PS3 sells a lot. They did do 'The Orange Box'
|
Look above. I figured someone would think of this and be misinformed. EA did a forced port of Orange Box. Valve had nothing to do with it.
|
EA got less say in L4D; Valve paid better attention this time around when working out the contract. EA won't be able to force a port this time around.
And yeah, Valve has stated they will never develop for the PS3. So L4D won't ever come there.

wwwhhhaaaaaa??
Google my friend, it works.
L4D WILL come out on the PS3, its a mater of time. Money greases all wheels.

Pay attention to how old that is.
Reading my friend, it works.
EA may be interested, but there were still roadblocks that Valve kept in place. Look how crappy the port of the Orange Box was. Valve didn't want that happening again, so they made it harder for EA to pull off, and thanks to that, the game is months old and EA hasn't made any announcements of a PS3 port. Now that so much time has passed, it's more and more likely that it just won't be happening, even if EA gets around the roadblocks and finally finishes their port
PS3/PS2/360 to Wii ports work because they're significantly different markets. PS3/360 markets are too similar; most people in that market that wanted it already have it for either 360 or PC. The PS3 version, being this late out the gate, would flop hard.
|
Its 8 months old... does everyone think this is 2010 already?
I dont know if you noticed, but the qoute is from Gabe Newell of Valve, not EA. Valve wouldnt care one way or another, its more money for them.
The PS3 version would flop? How much money do you think they would need to make from it to recoup the loss of not making a new engine, not remaking assets, not remaking the sounds, not remaking.... I dont want to get into a massive arguement over this, I have L4D on the 360 and all that, but EA wants money, Valve wouldnt mind the money and a port is far far less expensive than making a game from the ground up.
It just makes financial sense to produce something for a quarter (made up number) of the cost of a full game that is garunteed to have sales that will recoup expenses plus some.
How bouts this, if its not announced at E3 then its dead in the water and never will happen.
I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"
"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"
