Welcome to that small group of people that think with their head rather then their heart. You sir are quite correct about your analysis. Sony cannot even contemplate a price cut regardless of region or their sales. The company is treading water as the situation stands. They need to make money without spending more money to do so.
Chalk it up to the blood sport mentality, or die hard delusions. However you play it though it is just illogical to expect price cuts on the PS3. The only question you have to ask someone who says this is the following. Where will Sony get the money to do this, and who is going to keep loaning them the money to do this. When they try to respond just produce their corporate financial statements.
Sony isn't just bleeding cash. They are living on borrowed time. While they are in a buyers market where their assets will go for fifty cents on the dollar if they are lucky enough to find a buyer.

I am doubting it will slip below a hundred thousand at least according to the tracking on this site. For whatever reason that seems to be a brick wall. There is always enough demand regardless to keep it above that threshold. Honestly it does defy reasoning. One would think that as the market at a price point is exhausted sales would slow, but I think the high price acts as a taunt. Where consumers held off on buying hoping the price would drop, and have finally conceded that it will not.
