There are dozens of point&click adventures released each year for PC. Unlike in the 80s/90s, today most of them are developed in Europe, only some of them in NA. For LucasArts and/or Sierra fans like you and me most of the new games may not come close to our beloved classics, but some of the new games are actually very good.
Here are some sites which I visit regularly: http://www.adventuregamers.com/ http://www.adventuregamers.com/recommendations.php http://www.justadventure.com/ http://www.adventureclassicgaming.com/index.php http://www.adventure-archiv.de/ (largest ressource site I know, the main page is available in English)
I'm currently playing Ceville and I like it, next ones will be The Book of Unwritten Tales, A Vampyre Story, Sam & Max Season One and about 10 other PC adventures I recently bought (I recently returned to PC gaming after a break of several years because I missed RTS, building sims and especially PC adventures; these genres are still best on PC imo, although they're improving on console/handhelds).
Very promising upcoming adventures are for example: Jane Jensen's Gray Matter (hey, ex-Sierra!
), The Whispered World
Some reviews for Ceville and A Vampyre Story to get you started:

So in my opinion the situation for good new adventures on PC never looked better than today - 11 years after the release of LucasArts' Grim Fandago (their last brilliant adventure), Sierra's last Quest for Glory & last King's Quest.
By the way: The Sierra VGA remakes by APG look very interesting, I have to check them out some day.
