@ Akuma - so buddhism is the oldest?

does anyone know how old paganism is?

No, not by a long shot if you count Judaism.

Define paganism.  There are about 100 different flavors and varieties.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I really hate that term because if any religion we have today dies it will become a pagan religion to the world. All Pagan religion are just dead religions. There are still some that believe in specific dead religions but overall they are virtually dead.

As I know, one of the earliest recorded religions was Sumar which is dated to be around 3100BC. Figure there was religion before hand thats just been lost to time.

Its impossible to know of the earliest religion that ever existed with any kind of reliability beyond drawings on cave walls. It existed before there was any kind of recorded history. Its like asking what kind of typeface was used before the printing press was invented.

Pretty much.

Some experts think grave goods are linked to religious beliefs, which would mark the start of early religious thinking around 50.000 BC. But that's not so clear.

The oldest discovered religious writings are the Pyramid texts, roughly 2500 BC.

then why do we know the religion of Sumar goes back to 3100 BC?

I'm not an expert, but they've probably found strong evidence: paintings, sculptures, ritual structures like altars, etc.
