Yes. It's only disc 2 and 3.

ok.

you can't answer for the first guy that replies to this topic but i will still ask that question : i ask if the game was difficult, he told me it was difficult sometimes therefore he also told me that he didn't do much free level up.

As for another answer, i was told that "The game is not incredibly hard once you get to about level 10". what did he meant by that? that the game is not hard when you get to level 10, even when ennemis are of higher level than you?

There were two instances where I couldn't beat a certain battle with my characters at their current level, so I would usually go back and level up 4 times, and then I was fine. If you engage in a lot of battles instead of avoiding them (I didn't avoid too many, but I probably could have played more), you should be fine. I really wanted to see how the story would play out, so I hurried along to advance the story, at the cost of some extra battle time/experience. The last main quest boss was incredibly more difficult than the previous bosses, but I still managed to make it through on the first go (which was good, since it took me 37 minutes to beat it, haha).

Since you're familiar with the bonus boss, I do believe that she has an instant death attack. I haven't fought her, but I believe I read on a different forum that she has it. Here's a quote from that forum

"This is the hardest battle of the whole game, SHE IS NO JOKE!!!

It took me about 45 minutes to an hour for this battle, All 4 of my main characters were Maxed out at level 255, She has a move that sucks you towards her then the half the battle arena explodes & you cant dodge this, you`ll take about 900,000 Damage, if your not ready you`ll die in seconds, thankfully you get to swap in the other party members after all 4 die."

So, yeah, I think it's safe to say that you can expect an unfair fight. Actually, I can say with confidence to expect an unfair fight, because the preceeding 20 floor/5 hour dungeon has no save points.

Edit: I just saw your latest post

does someone have the answers to these questions :

1) does the final story boss of star ocean 4 has a "i can kill your team in one hit(or even in one attack)" attack?

2) are the battle trophies available in what is the easy level of that game or is it only for normal and higher difficulties?

1. I don't remember the final story boss having that attack.

2. Battle trophies are available on all modes, including easy.

1) ok, good.

2) very very very very very (add some more) good. in so 3, i did not get any battle trophies because i was stuck on the last story boss (which had a 'i kill everyone in one attack" attack) in easy so when i rebought the game, i did it on easy and finished it to 100% this time, so if i can do easy and still get battle trophies, i won't have to do it twice.

as for your post about the final bonus boss, you are talking about the one in so 3 or the one in so4, that is no joke?

i suppose they are the same anyway, i didn't check in order not to spoil me.

yeah, knowing that (DON'T read after the (  ) if you don't want to know a little bit )(i won't spoil it for you if you want to play star ocean 3 someday (i will recommand it strongly if you liked the fourth, but you can do the third last in order if you want to play the series, as it is after all the last in the series, chronologically)

the final bonus boss of so 3 is not star ocean related, so it is of course safe to say that they can place it in any star ocean.

As you posted the comment "she is no joke" from the thing, i suppose you kinda know who "she" is so it's no spoil.

i'd be glad to wait one more month to kick her ass lol

another (yes, again lol ) question : in europe, there will be a collector edition with an audio bonus cd, a guide of 32 pages and some other things i don't remember.

Is there something like that in NA and if there is one, did someone buy and can tell me if the collector edition of that game is worth the money?

Yeah, I've watched several battles with "her" in various Tri-Ace games (Star Ocean 4, Star Ocean 3, and Infinite Undiscovery) on YouTube, so I'm well aware of what awaits at the end of the game.

what is "great" with that boss is that you can't be prepared enough to be sure to beat it the first time you try lol.

i don't even know if her "level" and difficulty change from game to game.

Tri ace really knows how to make bosses that makes you want to take a plane to japan and kick their asses lol.

i don't know if you or anyone went to the max level but if it the case, it is still 255 like in so 3?

if the collector edition is available in uk, i will buy it, i can buy a uk game for 35/45 euro with shipping cost included when in france, my homeland, it will be at 70 euros...

perhaps i don't have the right to say that but thanks god the pound crashed a bit, it makes european games affordable for 35 euros less than normal.

Yes, the max level is 255 (I haven't reached it, but I have read it several times and seen it videos). The original cap is 200, but once you get 50 battle trophies for a character, then that character's level cap is moved to 255.

I'm currently on Gabriel Celeste in Infinite Undiscovery, and I thought he was gonna be easy, since I could walk through the first 7 levels of the Seraphic Gate, but he owned me in about 2 minutes. It was embarrasing!

Star Ocean 4 was worth every penny of $60 (American), I can tell you that

good to hear that, even if it is depressing when you know the max level is 255 and that you finish the story at level 60, like i did in so 3. lol

infinite undiscovery, i did not find it that great, especially some enigmas where you have to use some "connections", i did sold it really fast... perhaps too fast but past is past...

if it is as worth the money as i thought so 3 was, i can say i believe you blindly.

i did not enjoy so 1 and 2 because 2d and so system doesn't work for me, but so 3 was a huge surprise to me, and when i saw so 4 gameplay in tgs 08, i thought "it's like so 3 hd, but what's the matter if that so 3 is some of the best games on the ps2?"

argh, worldwide release for iu and the last remnant, i would have rather asked it for so 4, time's a bitch when you're an european waiting for a jrpg (and no, i'm not talking about ff13, no....... "crying")
