Forums - General - Anyone else annoyed how Obama says uh and um so many times during speeches?

A few weeks ago I just started noticing it which I probably should have picked up on earlier.  He doesn't do it as much during his teleprompter speeches but does it a shitload of times during Q&A sessions.  I can't bear to even listen to him during these Q&A sessions because I just here uhhhhhhhhhhh and ummmmmmm every other word sometimes.  You would think they would have a speech coach work with him more to get these annoying habits out of his speech.  The first thing most people learn for public speaking is to not use fillers/try to avoid them at all cost.   Someone please give him some speaking lessons..........

In my public speaking class i was taught the same thing about not using fillers.
People were so ready to jump on Bush for the these things but you don't hear them now, and when they do say something it all comes back to Bush all over again.. see above.

"What have i done.? Is it too late to save me from this place? From the depths of the grave? We all are those .. who thought we were brave."

Yea, Bush was terrible also. I guess we can't get a President recently that can actually speak decently without the aid of a teleprompter.

I've always thought it was dumb to criticize people for using a teleprompter. Many of the people who criticize Obama for doing it are avid supporters of Reagan, who used teleprompters all the time. And he didn't write any of his own speeches.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

President Obama does say Ummm a lot. Slick Willy could string a sentence along quite quickly. I noticed that Obama  is better at implementing grammar than Bush. i also noticed that he doesn't go on if a particular word or idea fleets from his mind. Nonetheless yeah, it is pretty annoying though - because it takes him a while to say anything.

at least bush was funny

filler words :p we all go through them sometimes. I had a "well uh" phase myself

lol no.

thats because he is a bumbling idiot.

he doesnt have any charisma, and he made all his mistakes during the campaign because the teleprompter wasn't on.
