But can you point out ANYTHING similar with this footage and the Chaos Theory footage?
That footage was so awful. The music was such and obvious bourne rip off. There's no light and shadow. There was FIGHTING?! You're not supposed to be going toe to toe with bad guys unless you throw a flash bang (and proceed to slit all their throats)
I thought X-box fans played and loved SC. How can anyone be happy that they took an existing, well established, vefly loved, high selling franchise to push their AC technology? =(
People who do like AC have this and the sequel to look forward to. But what do Splinter Cell fans get to look forward to? Not MGS, not SC, not AC, but NOTHING.
There's no game like SC now. An entire sub genre has been killed. |
I see your point about Bourne. It looks a rip off totally. But just because it's light and the stealth involves mingling in with the crowd does not mean it's different than mingling in the shadows. It's a good call IMO. SC was becoming stale, it's problem was majorly over the top linear levels. Fine for last gen, but it needed freedom so badly. The object interaction is a massive plus. In DA I wanted so much to use the scenery to my advantage but couldnt.
Personally AC looks nothing like this. Apart from the crowds, AC does not have interaction like this at all.

They could have a lot of freedom with the L&S mechanics. In CT they did bring a fresh of breath air by changing the linear levels by adding multiple paths. They could have expanded by instead of having a bunch of linear paths (although what was cool is that if you infiltrate a base through one path, you could easily switch on to another), by having a incredibly open and big map.
They added a variety of environments and encouraged you to play how you want (bash a door open and shoot with the shotgun attachment, or go for the launcher with non-lethal weapons and silent weapons).
THAT is a breath of fresh air. They could have given you an even more customizeable inventory, and gotten ridden of the % system at the end, to truly encourage people to play how they want.

Completely removing EVERYTHING isn't a breath of fresh air. It isn't a CHANGE. It's a complete replacement of a game. It's like using the Splinter Cell name to make a racing game or something. It's absolutely ridiculous, and a SEVERE DISSERVICE to the original fans who built up this franchise's name. I can't believe they're abusing and using the SC name to push the crowd system they made with AC, and attract people who weren't a fan of the past 4 games, and the entire gameplay.
I'm not moaning and groaning because they changed something, but because they destroyed everything. Please, anybody, point out something similar with CT and Convictions in terms of gameplay? Ubisoft still changed other aspects as well. Going for a more Bourne/Thriller type of story instead of the Technothriller stories they had with 1-3. Sam is now a younger man than he was in the third game. And the music has went from ambient, creepy, smooth spy music (Chaos Theory with the base), to the frenetic music like the Bourne movies.
It's not a change =( They just replaced everything.
