Forums - General - Summer movies. Which movie will be most popular? most anticipated?

The Hangover is showing great legs and will end up with at least $250m in the US alone.
Up is challenging Finding Nemo as Pixar's biggest hit but Ice Age 3 will cut into it next week.
Star Trek is posting minimal drops week after week(-14% this weekend for a $240m total so far) but will be overtaken by UP as biggest movie of 2009 this coming weekend.
Transformers 2 will be a box office juggernaut but I hope it doesn't do as well as the first one.

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

I've heard very good things about UP. Yet at the same time I might just wait for the DVD, because it doesn't have the appeal that Wall-E or The Incredibles had on me.

ohh wall-e and the incredibles are amazing movies. but trust me you must watch UP in the theaters. is just AMAZING. and you better bring yourself a tisue because this movie is worst than titanic. i cried like 1000 times and is very hard for me to cry because of a movie, but at the same time is so funny.

Yeah, I suppose The Proposal will hold up well, but Transformers will eat into it's box office. I don't know, I'm not a romantic comedy fan at all, so that's just my view. And UP will overtake Star Trek as biggest movie of 2009 so far. I think, by the end of the year, Transformers 2 and Harry Potter 6 will be the box office kings this summer, and maybe even the year. People say James Cameron's Avatar will make more, but I don't know. I mean, the only trailer that came out for the film was almost two years ago, and all they have now is just images, no videos or anything and it comes out in less than 6 months. I have no doubt it will be good. I mean, it's James Cameron. Of course it will be good, but no one really knows about it after all this time. Wow, this is getting long. lol

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Just saw Transformers 2. Amazing film, despite some flaws. Apparently, it made $16 million in just midnight grosses. Can't wait to see how well this film holds up.

OMG. i saw it too. is just A M A Z I N G. incredible. maybe it would have gotten better reviews if they would have made a more serious story. they could have lowered the funny parts in the story a little bit. but this movie is now my favorite of all times!!!. people watch it now!!.

omg! in just 1 day the movie already have 120millions in the boxoffice worldwide. thats incredible.

Saw Proposal with my wife yesterday at 4. Really liked it - Sandra looks awesome naked. she's over 40 isn't she? Wow!
the at 7, I went to see 'Hangover". pretty decent movie - not as funny as I thought it was going to be, but still very worth it.
Haven't seen tranformers 2 yet, but it'll make over $170m by Monday (just in NA)- awesome.

I saw The Proposal a few days ago too and liked it as well. She's 45 years old and looked amazing(not as amazing as naked Ryan Reynolds though

Ditto on The Hangover. Parts of it were hysterical but too much of it was just so-so. I'm amazed at the money it's making(it will hit between $350m-$400m WW!).

I'm hoping Transformers 2 is heavily front loaded. It looks even worse than the first one (I will get dragged to see it at some stage).

Transformers 2 will make more than $170 million in America by Monday. It already grossed $60 million on opening day wednesday. It should have over $200 million by Monday. Maybe almost $300 million.

Still haven't watched the Hangover yet. I might just wait for the DVD considering all the mixed reviews it's getting from the public.

Hangover won't be a hit outside of NA.  Sense of humor is different.  who else but us will laugh about the 'baby' scene?  and Ken Jeong running naked?

Ken Jeong is gonna be a superstar.  hilarious.
