IMO:
Shooter = 360
RPG = DS or 360/Wii
Action Adventure = PS3/Wii
Racer = Wii/360 (Arcadey racers own)
Platformers = Wii
Fighter = Wii.

My last post.
The "article/feature" is pure bias from a bias site. I wouldnt pay too much attention.

This thread will reach at least 3 pages.

How exactly? Brawl is good and all, but you seriously think it's better than UNS, Street Fighter 4, Soul Caliber 4, etc?

Anything Naruto is crap. I saw youre future post and yes I like anime fighters but anything Naruto is just crap.

Bleach: Versus Crusade>>>>>>>>>>>>UNS. Bleach: Versus Crusade is the best anime fighter in a long time not including TvC.

I say Wii is better at fighters because

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Tatsunoko vs Capcom
Bleach: Versus Crusade

Those three are the best fighters this gen imo.

Shit like Tekken and or Viruta Figher are total crap. TvC is insane and I honestly believe its better thatn SFIV. SCIV is also awesome sad Wii didnt get it but Brawl is better. SVIV and SCIV  are the only fighters Wii is missing and they have two better ones so imo I think Wii has a better list.

I feel the same way. I'm also the same way with Jak & Sly. But it should have been mentioned in the OP is all I was referring to.

You guys are my heroes! =D

OT: I doubt it, but there will be fantastic games for all genres, I'm sure.

In Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm's defense the fighting is actually pretty fun and well done, the thing that made it bad was just about everything between those fights.

  • Action Adventure (Wii) -- What does the PS3 or Xbox 360 currently have that can compre to Twilight Princess?  True, TP isn't the best Zelda, but it's still an incredible game.  Aside from that, it also have Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Zack & Wiki.  Digging a little deeper the Wii also has gems like Madworld, No More Heroes and even technically has RE4 (and the best version at that).
  • Platformer (Wii/DS) -- To say any other platformer this gen beats Super Mario Galaxy or New Super Mario Bros. is just foolish.  It isn't foolish to say you like some other game better, but it is foolish to say there are better platformers than those two games this gen.
  • Racing (PS3/Wii) -- depends on your taste really I think.  If you like the sim games, PS3 for GT.  If you like just fun racing, Wii gets it for Mario Kart Wii and ExciteBots.
  • Fighting (Wii) -- what exclusive fighting games do the 360 or Wii have?  I doubt either of them has anything that compres to Brawl.  Brawl is probably the most complete game I've ever seen.
  • Shooter (360) -- the 360 isn't called the shooter box for nothing.  No matter what kind of shooter you like, the 360 has the best of it.  The Wii may control better, but the 360 just has the better shooters.  The PS3 also has some good shooters, but its exclusives don't do much to compare to the 360's exclusives and usually feel like they're playing catchup gameplay wise.
  • RPG (DS/360) -- RPG's work best on handheld consoles and the DS has 'em.  The PS3 and 360 have those crazy big budget ones, but how many of those actually turned out to be really good?  I'm sure for everyone you list someone else could easily list 2 really good DS RPG's.  If I had to pick a home console, the 360 has the edge because of things like Fable 2 and Mass Effect.

I can agree with some of this.

I thin Mario Kart Wii is way too casual though. The rubber band AI ruined it for me.

I don't get how some people can completely write off Forza vs GT5 and in the same breath talk up KZ2 vs Halo 3.

Either write off both to their respective powerhouses or go by personal preferrence, its really that simple (I think)

Tease.

When gamers go to select their console, they first look to the available and impending software, as they most certainly should. And as we all know, everyone has different tastes and preferences when it comes to various genres; for instance, while some can't stand the idea of a role-playing game, others put the niche genre #1 on their priority list.

Therefore, wouldn't it be important to determine which of the available consoles has the best games for your favorite genres? It's a legitimate question but in considering the answer - and after trading in Star Ocean: The Last Hope - I'm starting to wonder if the PlayStation 3 will have the best exclusive titles in each available genre. Of course, I'm no psychic and the generation is far from over, which means we could see many, many more Xbox 360 exclusives that could reign supreme. I can only go on the current information, and in doing so, I come up with the following assessment:

Action/adventure: Obviously, the biggest genre out there, and most titles are multiplatform, anyway. But really, for the time being, this seems to come down to the 360's Gears of War and Left 4 Dead titles versus the PS3's MGS4, Uncharted and God of War, with the possibility of certain IPs like Heavy RainQuantum Theory, and inFamous having good potential. We should also toss in Alan Wake for the 360 as well. I'm sorry, but I just don't see the 360 stacking up to what the PS3 has; GoW and Uncharted trump Gears, IMO. Heck, MGS4 alone beats out everything else in my book. I doubt many would disagree.

Platformer: Eh, this isn't the huge genre it once was, but all I've got to say is that right now, it begins and ends with LittleBigPlanet. Not much else to talk about.

Racing: This is hard because most all racing games these days are multiplatform, and it really only comes down to a battle between Gran Turismo and Forza. I'm not going to get into a long drawn-out compare-and-contrast session, but anyone who actually knows something about cars and racing realizes that GT vastly outstrips Forza in a multitude of ways. Ask any amateur racer, mechanic, etc.; just trust us on this. If they do aForza 3, in no way will it be able to compete on a simulated/realistic level with GT5. Plain and simple.

First-person shooter (FPS): This will always be a hotly contested genre, but right now, it boils down to Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 versus the Halotitles, and the result is a no-brainer at this point in time. I'm sure we'll see another 360 exclusive FPS that should rock our socks but if it's out there, currently in the works, I haven't heard of it yet. Right now, the benchmark is KZ2, and R2 is pretty damn good, too.

Role-Playing: This is the only genre where the PS3 may not end up leading the 360 in my eyes. I may not have liked Star Ocean, but it certainly wasn't a bad game and many RPG fans would've liked to have had it on the PS3. Furthermore, past RPGs like Lost Odyssey (which I loved; I hope they do a sequel) and Blue Dragon have really made me turn to the 360 for my RPG fix. It'll probably happen again if they do a LO sequel, too. But I have faith in Final Fantasy Versus XIII - even if it is about a million years off - and NIS America has a currently unannounced PS3 RPG we're all waiting to hear about this week. I'm also waiting for Atlus to jump fully into this new generation, so there's a lot more to come in the future... For now, though, the edge definitely goes to the 360.

I know there are other genres, like Puzzle and Flight and things like that, but these are the major ones. There's the fighting genre, but are there any exclusive fighting titles out there?  I mean, significant ones?  Obviously, the key lies with exclusives, and right now, I really can't see how the 360 matches up competitively with the PS3. But again, things can always change, and we have yet to see what happens at E3... In short, nothing is definitive.

Do you agree with him or do you think his viewpoint is a little biased and "extreme"?

Feel free to discuss...

Action/Adventure they are about 50/50 , Platformer is PS3, Racing  is Xbox 360 (Forza is better sorry), Shooter is Xbox 360 (Resistance 2 is weak and so is Killzone 2 and yes I enjoyed them and own them), RPG is Xbox 360 (both jrpg and wrpg), Fighting they are both equal. This of course is IMO. PS3 has many awesome games in all those genres that I enjoy and own but it only has the upper hand in Platformer and not because of LittleBigPlanet that game is dumb, but because of Ratchet and Clank. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts doesn't count I want Banjo 3 instead. If I included the Wii I would have to change a few things but It was obvious in the article it was between only Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

 How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

The Wii already has the platform genre with Super Mario Galaxy.

One console to rule them all,
One console to find them.
One console to bring them all
And in the darkness buy them.

OT: I stopped reading after his platformer entry. And no game in its genre can match the pure fun and glory of SSBB. Not one.

Yes one console lol I would love if we had could buy one system and play all console games on it. Save me lots of money :D
