Forums - Sony - VGchartz's Demon's Souls thread

The game arrived today and I got owned.

I started off with the hunter and I got killed by the boss Demon in the tutorial. Now I have half life, and went into the first world. I was doing well until I got to a part where there was a lone knight and I tried to kill him but he fucked me up. And there was my souls right next to where he was.

So then I go to him again, I get owned again and my souls disappear. I was so pissed but I tried again. This time I didn't go towards that annoying bastard and I was doing so fricking well until I got to a long bridge type place where there were alot of enemies. I started taking out the enemies one by one until a dragon thing flew over a blew fire all over me and I died. -_-

I was so pissed because I had to go all the way to that dragon place to regain my souls but it was sooo far away so I just went back to the nexus with nothing.

Welcome to the world of Demon's Souls :P

You musn't rush your way through the levels, you must ponder your actions and your steps, even more now because you don't know the layout of the stages, the disposition of the enemies, their attacking patterns, you're still learning everything about the game, so you must take it slowly.

I understand your frustrations, they were the same that I had when I first started the game, I died in those same scenarios that you've died, but it's those deaths that make you ponder and think about different approaches :)

About the dragon, do you remember the roost where the two dragons were resting before that bridge? If you don't know where that is, before you go to the bridge, take a left turn and go through that corridor, in there you'll see the roost.

Well, after seeing the roost, lure the red dragon to it by going near the roost, you should hear the dragon approaching (the red one).
After that, make a run for the bridge, stop at the bottom of the stairs and make sure your stamina is at it's maximum. Then make a straight run towards the other side of the bridge, don't stop because of the soldiers, just make it through to the other side where there are some stairs, if you do that, you'll pass the bridge without the dragon even touching you.

Be prepared, in the next stage there are even more dragon paths and even harder to predict and time.

I do take my time...when I'm in a tight space, I lure my enemies into open space and kill them. And you now that certain knight, the one with lots of health who seems to be guarding a certain place, he is probably the most annoying person ever. I attempted to kill him twice but he takes so little damage and his attacks are so strong. And the second time I took about 85% of his life away and then he used some of that herb medicine!!! And then he killed me and I was pissed.

The third time I went back to him only to get my souls back from where they were and then I ran for my life. The only problem is, is that he was chasing me all the fucking way until I reach more enemies and got raped so badly by him.

Roost? I only saw one dragon resting as I was proceeding towards the bridge but he was quite far away and there was no way I could hurt him even with my bow (I think).

But anyways I lost my souls at the bridge and then I went back to the nexus. Will I still be able to get my souls if I go back to that world?

The soldier that you faced, was it the blue eyes one or the red eyes one?

Because if it was the red eyes one, you're not supposed to face him just yet, he's for mid-level characters and with a bit more skill you can defeat him ;).

You can safely go back to the nexus and return to any of the stages that you lost your souls in, the bloodstain will stay in place until you get it or die in a new place.

That's the roost I was talking about, did it have a blue dragon swinging it's tail in it?

The soldier did have red eyes...but I just nearly killed him until he used that damn herb and then the fucker chased me!!!

Yes thats the roost (I think). Can't remember if the dragon was blue but it was swinging it's tail.

I'm thinking of starting a new game since now I know the basics and so I won't mess up on the tutorial...

Don't do that, you're supposed to die in the tutorial, only a very few number of people have beaten the Vanguard in the Tutorial, it's extremely hard.

Oh ok. But can you go back to that world again and defeat him?

Nope, but you'll face him again in 4-1, the first stage in the Shrine of Storms area ;)

Ok thanks for the advice. About the dragon in the roost, what do I do then?

Just follow my previous advice, make sure you stay in the roost long enough so that the Red Dragon comes back to the roost and breathes fire.
From that point run back to the stairs before the bridge and make sure your stamina is full.
Run to the other side of the bridge and don't stop because of the soldiers, once you're on the other side completely, you can defeat them, even if the dragon passes through the bridge, since he cannot touch you there.
