I've gotten pretty far solo, but I'm having a hell of a time killing the Old Hero on my own.

I'm pretty much stuck right where I am as a result of it, too.

It's a hard boss but use his disadvantage at your advantage. He's blind, he only hears. Equip Thief's ring if you have it, and equip armors that don't do the cling cling sound( lol, armors like fluted armor or any heavy armor) Don't be heavy, if you can roll easily then you'll be ok. Hit him from the back, he will shout, turn around and attack at his back. While his doing so, get to his back and repeat. When he's putting his sword in the ground, roll the hell out.

Of course, this was a solo method.

Otherwise if you're lucky, get a blue phantom. Be wary, old hero will attack you because you make sound while walking or running, so don't be greedy and try to hit the boss as many times as you can, because you might get frustruating results( Once he attacks you, you're done for...unless you can roll easily or have your partner hit him from the back.)

Him, Flamelurker and Old King Allant are the funnest bosses in the game. Challenging.

Almost New Game +++

I'm at 5-2 now...I don't want it to end :(

You can always beat the game and restart it will all your stuffs.

Go for the trophies, will keep you busy for a realllyy long time.

Ohh ok that didn't come to my mind. Maybe thats a little better but still the danger to the saved games remain as you have pointed out.

Flamelurker wasn't horribly difficult for me, actually.

I can roll easily, and don't make much noise when I walk.

My problem is, I hit him, and then he yells and charges me, so I roll out of the way, then I'll try to run from his follow up swing, and somehow, he always ends up hitting me no matter what I do.

I have never seen a blue phantom on 4-2, as a matter of fact, blue phantoms have become a rarity in game. I get more black phantoms attacking me than I do blue phantoms showing up.

(Somebody should add me on PSN and give me some blue phantom help.)

The thief ring worked like a charm.

With that equipped, I was able to stand back and toss fireballs at him without retaliation.

I won without using a single herb.
